Kyoko (2156 lines)

Main story (83)

Prologue: EDEN 15 1 lines
KyokoI'm just a humble detective.
Chapter 1: The Kuremi Detective Agency 1 14 lines
KyokoIt's me! Whew, I finally got through to you.
KyokoI lost your trace info, and had to search again. Where did you wander off to this time?
KyokoI see. So you ran into Mirei Mikagura. Yeah, you could say we're acquainted.
KyokoRegardless, for there to have been a natural progression where you would meet her...
KyokoYou seem to have the craziest luck.
KyokoLet's assume you carried out your original objective. We'll start by...
KyokoWhat? You've already broken through the firewall? Well done! You saved me some time. Hee hee!
KyokoAll right, on to our next move.
KyokoI scanned the area around the entrance to Kowloon and marked key junk data sites.
KyokoJunk data will serve as your body parts. You need to go find and retrieve some.
KyokoIt's something of a stopgap measure, and it may not be a perfect solution, but I'm sure your skills are up to the task.
KyokoThis is a key step to returning your body to normal, so buck up and get to work!
KyokoIt's okay. Searching for body parts isn't as hard as defeating 48 demons, now, is it?
KyokoThink of it as an emergency measure. I look forward to meeting you in your normal body.
Chapter 1: The Kuremi Detective Agency 2 8 lines
KyokoHmm... You at least look normal again. It's not a perfect solution, but it's a big step.
KyokoThe objective has been met. Come back to the agency.
KyokoWhat's that? You don't know how to get back?
KyokoHmm... Try logging out like you always do.
KyokoSince you went in through an agency terminal, my guess is that you should come out through one.
KyokoBut to be honest, in your case, I don't know what'll happen until we try.
KyokoIn the worst case, if your data gets scattered throughout the network, I'll salvage as much as I can.
KyokoHee hee, I'm joking! Sort of.
Chapter 1: The Kuremi Detective Agency 4 10 lines
KyokoWell, what to do? At times like these, I tend to start off with a frontal attack.
KyokoLet's try direct negotiations to get us into the hospital's Special Ward.
KyokoHeehee, you're a pretty sharp one!
KyokoBut preconceived notions can sometimes lead to unintended consequences. Don't ask for details.
KyokoI'll give you instructions later. Until then, gather info inside the hospital.
KyokoAsking questions is the most fundamental cornerstone in detective work!
KyokoI wasn't joking when I said you could become a specialist in the field, my dear prospective assistant.
KyokoBecome a GP, and record my activities in a chart, or become a boy with shining red cheeks...
KyokoIt's really a lot of fun. Hee hee!
KyokoThey say that ignorance is bliss, after all.
Chapter 1: The Kuremi Detective Agency 6 8 lines
KyokoIt's me.
KyokoWe can ride the elevator to the Special Ward floor but can't enter the rooms without permission.
KyokoIt goes without saying that we have no such permission. What do we do now?
KyokoWe take out the two guards and hack our way past the door, which is likely locked, to get into the room.
KyokoThis is what I call a frontal attack, but it takes time to prepare, and the risks are high.
KyokoLet's not rely on a frontal attack now. We'll trust in your abilities--our trump card.
KyokoThe terminal in the nurse's station should be connected to the hospital network.
KyokoI don't have to spell it all out for you, do I?
Chapter 1: The Kuremi Detective Agency 7 6 lines
KyokoYou managed to get there without incident! Hee hee! Just as I expected it would go!
KyokoOkay, let's move into action. Get the data from the room in the back while keeping an eye on the patient.
KyokoThat's for the authorities to decide, not us. If it's against the law, then the law will try us.
KyokoBut until then, we're in a bit of a gray area.
KyokoDetectives generally operate unchallenged when it comes to this sort of thing.
KyokoHmph. I leave it to you, my prospective assistant!
Chapter 1: The Kuremi Detective Agency 9 1 lines
KyokoI apologize for interrupting such an important conversation, but you have an uninvited guest.
Chapter 1: The Kuremi Detective Agency 10 5 lines
KyokoRie Kishibe. Making the rounds behind the scenes?
KyokoI'm curious what a Kamishiro bigwig is doing here.
KyokoWe got the information we needed. Now get out of there. No need to overstay your welcome.
KyokoOops! I've got a visitor as well.
KyokoLet's meet in the lobby, then. Don't rush, and don't make a fuss!
Chapter 1: The Kuremi Detective Agency 12 2 lines
KyokoYou escaped that predicament all on your own. Hee hee! See, I knew you could do it!
KyokoNow, then, shall we head back?
Chapter 1: The Kuremi Detective Agency 13 29 lines
KyokoI see. You've got a good grasp on the situation.
KyokoThat place in Shinjuku, the one where you appeared when you logged out from cyberspace.
KyokoIt's the same, or very similar, to the place you logged in to EDEN at, isn't it?
KyokoHmm...
KyokoWell, you're here talking to me now, but it seems there's another body out there for you as well.
KyokoMaybe your mental data was separated from your physical body and manifested in the real world independently?
KyokoOr maybe your body was somehow moved to Shinjuku where it was corrupted into the form you have now.
KyokoThe whole situation is entirely too peculiar. Yet here you are, standing before me, as much as that shouldn't make sense.
KyokoAt present, I can only form a simple hypothesis. We need to gather more information, and quickly.
KyokoGoing by the book, you should check out where you logged in to EDEN... which was where?
KyokoCome now. You don't trust me?
KyokoHmph, where are you now?
KyokoYou are at the Kuremi Detective Agency, which has solved a number of rather bizarre cases, including cyber crimes.
KyokoI can think of nobody better suited to solving the mystery of what happened to you than right here.
KyokoAnd you're even sitting on the sofa for clients.
KyokoNo need to worry about compensation. Your very existence is all the payment I need.
KyokoLet's pretend you've boarded a luxury liner. Say, the Mary Celeste.
KyokoAnyway, let's get back on track here. Where did you log in? But first...
KyokoBefore we do anything else, we must do something about your appearance.
KyokoYou can't even walk around outside like that. And it looks pretty unstable, as well.
KyokoI've had a good look, and you are truly a mass of data: a true digital body.
KyokoYet you hear my voice, sit on my sofa, talk to me. Proof that you obey physical laws.
KyokoA digital body with real-world characteristics. Let's call it a "half-cyber body." Hee hee!
KyokoIf your body is comprised of data, then it could be easy to do something about your appearance. Incorporate compatible data and make repairs.
KyokoYou should have the same basic structure as an avatar used within EDEN.
KyokoIt would be excellent if there were avatar parts in the data found lying around in Kowloon.
KyokoThe only issue is whether or not you can log in in your current state.
KyokoWhat is it? Did something happen with the television?
KyokoHey! What's wrong? Hey!
Chapter 1: The Kuremi Detective Agency 14 14 lines
KyokoHehe! You made it back it one piece, didn't you? I wouldn't have expected anything different.
KyokoStill, those abilities border on the unreal.
KyokoMaybe the reason you still adhere to physical laws has to do with an instinctual fear present in all physical organisms.
KyokoHee hee! This is all truly fascinating!
KyokoThere you go again, sneaking up on me, old man.
KyokoAnd could you stop calling me Kyo-chan? It's embarrassing. That was a childhood nickname.
KyokoHow long have you been there? What have you heard?
KyokoNo, this is--well, a client of sorts, though of a somewhat unconventional nature.
KyokoHmph. Like I said, no one in particular. Not yet.
KyokoLet me introduce you. This is Detective Matayoshi.
KyokoHe's an old friend from when my father ran the agency, and I trust him completely. He's the most elite detective the force has on cyber crime.
KyokoSo, is there something afoot? If it's a case, sit on the sofa and wait a bit.
KyokoI'll just whip up some tasty coffee...
KyokoLet's hear it, then.
Chapter 1: The Kuremi Detective Agency 15 7 lines
KyokoNo need to worry about my assistant, old man! This is someone with a rather... special connection with EDEN.
KyokoMy assistant has the potential to become something of a specialist in the field.
KyokoLet's hear what you have to say.
KyokoPlease do.
KyokoBehind the scenes? Meaning Kamishiro Enterprises, right?
KyokoIt was going to happen eventually.
KyokoHee hee! Think I'll put some coffee on after all! We can toast the agency's success!
Chapter 1: The Kuremi Detective Agency 16 11 lines
KyokoIt was as he said.
Kyoko"Fresh" info on EDEN Syndrome is hard to come by. Kamishiro's behind-the-scenes restrictions are doing their job.
KyokoAnd security will only get ramped up all the more from here on out.
KyokoThere's something very strange happening in EDEN, then you show up in your weird body, and at the same time, Kamishiro's apparently on the move.
KyokoIs that all merely a coincidence?
KyokoNo, it has to all be connected. The rationale is plain as day. No leaps in logic necessary.
KyokoI'm heading to Central Hospital. I need to get as much info as I can before security is stepped up.
KyokoI'd be thrilled if you came with me.
KyokoYou might be able to get some info on your current state.
KyokoSeek and ye shall find! Knock and it shall be...
KyokoNo, in your case, let's go with "Open Sesame." Heehee!
Chapter 1: The Kuremi Detective Agency 17 21 lines
KyokoI can't imagine what the shock of seeing your own body from the outside is like.
KyokoIf we think of it like an out-of-body experience, maybe we can find a solution.
KyokoYou're the first EDEN Syndrome patient to exhibit these particular symptoms--the first "irregular" amongst them.
KyokoSimply knowing that is a major step in getting to the bottom of this.
KyokoWe can't rush the investigation. Mustn't hurry things along. Stay cool, stay calm.
KyokoEndure like hard black iron, doggedly and with all your might.
KyokoMy father used to say that all the time.
KyokoBut back to the issue at hand! What are you planning to do next?
KyokoDon't you want to return to your original body? Don't you want to know the truth of what happened?
KyokoHmph. Then it's decided. You should work here, as my assistant.
KyokoThere'll be many cases dealing with EDEN and cyber crime. The more work you do, the more clues we'll be able to find.
KyokoDon't worry. I am certain of your potential. And while you're at it, I'll cover your room and board. Heh.
KyokoBesides, with your talents, who else is better suited for a cyber-investigation?
KyokoI'm expecting great things!
KyokoExcellent! We have an agreement.
KyokoFrom this point forward, you are my assistant Cyber Sleuth!
KyokoHmm. Have a seat on the sofa and wait.
KyokoI'll make some coffee. We'll drink a toast to celebrate!
KyokoSeaweed and red bean paste coffee. My specialty.
KyokoOh, I know it looks all fancy, but wait until you get a load of the flavor and aroma!
KyokoHere's to you, Cyber Sleuth!
Chapter 1: The Kuremi Detective Agency 18 13 lines
KyokoThis is Kyoko Kuremi. Can you hear me?
KyokoI nearly lost you, but I managed to get a trace.
KyokoWhat the heck happened? It looked like you were sucked into the terminal and just disappeared.
KyokoI see. I'm guessing you passed through the actual network lines themselves.
KyokoThe office terminal is connected to EDEN's network.
KyokoYou rode the flow within the wires as data and appeared in EDEN.
KyokoSo then for you, the network appears as an actual series of roads.
KyokoStill, it's shocking to see you make such a direct transition from the real world to the digital one.
KyokoTo submerge in the digital world just by touching the terminal. A dive... no, a jump!
KyokoFrom now on I'm going to call that ability of yours a "Connection Jump."
KyokoWhat a happy little unexpected accident! Now you can go look around for avatar part data.
KyokoHead to Kowloon.
KyokoThere's plenty of junk data lying around in Kowloon. It should be easy to find what you need.
Chapter 2: Search for the Father (Yuuko) 2 10 lines
KyokoI see. All's well that ends well. This really is such an interesting case.
KyokoThere are humans with Digimon collections. Do you suppose the opposite must be true as well?
KyokoI somehow don't find it that strange that there're Digimon with collections of human account info.
KyokoStill, for it to be that Mephisto...
KyokoLooks like the Digimon completely overtook its user's mental data, becoming the user itself.
KyokoI want to check out what effect that has on the real world but, it doesn't pertain to our current investigation. Maybe next time.
KyokoThe accounts collected by the Digimon included the forcibly overtaken account of Makoto Yamashina.
KyokoYou've done good work today. Come back to the agency.
KyokoThe wheels of fortune are ever turning. Heh. I should bear that in mind.
KyokoIs that not so, my dear Watson?
Chapter 2: Search for the Father (Yuuko) 5 8 lines
KyokoLet's get down to it. I have something for you.
KyokoYour first duty to kick off your new career as a cyber sleuth.
KyokoIf Nakano is gonna be your base of operations, you should make the rounds and introduce yourself at the various establishments here.
KyokoYou'll be depending on these places a lot, so it's important they know who you are.
KyokoHmm... Oh yeah. Let me explain about the whiteboard.
KyokoHanging on the wall to the right of my desk is a whiteboard. You see it?
KyokoYou can accept cases from there.
KyokoField practice is better than book learning. I'll put some simple cases up on the whiteboard. Check it out, and start working on some cases.
Chapter 2: Search for the Father (Yuuko) 9 18 lines
KyokoIt seems you've made your rounds.
KyokoThey're quite a bunch of characters, but that's what it takes to live in Nakano.
KyokoNext, I'm going to have you hit the streets.
KyokoI want to see how well your digital self can blend in, in the real world. The final stage of your testing.
KyokoGo around Shinjuku asking questions.
KyokoYou might find yourself the topic of rumors. People saw you looking like that, after all.
KyokoWhile you're doing that, I'll clean up my affairs.
KyokoI've got to make a report on my investigation to Detective Matayoshi.
KyokoAnd I forgot one important thing.
KyokoIt's about your mother.
KyokoIt was a blessing in disguise that your parents were working abroad for so long.
KyokoThey were going to come back when they heard you were sick, but I told them you were released from the hospital at the last minute.
KyokoYou should contact them and reassure them you're okay.
KyokoHow were your parents doing?
KyokoHmm, it seems like there are no problems.
KyokoIt's good that you put them at ease. They'll probably call again.
KyokoI'll leave your parents to you. Handle them well. That's your duty as their child.
KyokoSpeaking of duty, it calls! Head to Shinjuku.
Chapter 2: Search for the Father (Yuuko) 10 17 lines
KyokoHmm. The folks who saw you earlier didn't seem to make much of a big deal about it.
KyokoIf that's so, you'll be fine walking the streets.
KyokoBy the way...
KyokoNot to change the subject, but I've readied a new EDEN account for you.
KyokoYour existing account isn't being recognized properly on the EDEN Network.
KyokoAs a result, you can't log in normally.
KyokoYou can "invade" a service using a Connection Jump, but with an invalid account, you won't be able to do much.
KyokoThat would hinder your work, so from now on, log in with the new account I got for you.
KyokoWell, it's almost time.
KyokoI see... You're looking forward to my coffee.
KyokoI hate to make you wait for it, but let's have our coffee break later.
KyokoIt's time for work, dear assistant.
KyokoRight on time! She seems like she'll be an excellent client.
KyokoWelcome to the Kuremi Detective Agency. Please, come in.
KyokoWhat's this? You two know each other?
KyokoHmm... Well, regardless. You are Yuuko Yamashina, my new client?
KyokoLet me inquire, then, into the details of the case. Please be seated on that sofa there.
Chapter 2: Search for the Father (Yuuko) 11 15 lines
KyokoDisappeared?
KyokoHmm... Do you have any info on your father?
KyokoThere's no response when you call?
KyokoI understand. We'll take the case on.
KyokoWell, then, let's get started! I'll let you know if there are any developments.
KyokoWould you mind giving me your contact information?
KyokoI see...
KyokoMr. Yamashina's account info checks out.
KyokoAnd my conclusion is this:
I believe that someone has hacked this account.
KyokoThere are numerous strange points of activity that I can see with the account, and multiple Makoto Yamashinas roaming EDEN.
KyokoIt's got to be the result of an account raid. Everyone's been clamoring about that sort of thing recently.
KyokoI want you to start by tracking down the active traces of the Yamashina account.
KyokoAccount hacking is sometimes connected to organized crime.
KyokoTake your investigation to EDEN and ask questions. We might get some info on these account raids.
KyokoYou're up, my dear Watson! Hehe! Proceed to EDEN, and start asking around.
Chapter 2: Search for the Father (Yuuko) 12 8 lines
KyokoThanks to the release of Yamashina's account, I was able to salvage the account info.
KyokoI found his current address and checked it.
KyokoAlong the way I looked into his family data. Some interesting facts came to light.
KyokoOur client--this "Yuuko Yamashina"--is very clearly not the same daughter listed here.
KyokoShould I have guessed as much? Or should I say it's just too silly?
KyokoYou still haven't figured it out? Hee hee, our work relationship remains sound!
KyokoFor now, let's head to the Yamashina house.
KyokoWhat shall we find in the home of a man who's disappeared? There's only one way to find out.
Chapter 2: Search for the Father (Yuuko) 13 8 lines
KyokoYou came. And much earlier than I expected. You are indeed an excellent client.
KyokoPlease, take a seat on the sofa. The investigation has concluded. I can offer you my report.
Kyoko...and here are the results of the investigation.
KyokoA hacker team known as Zaxon was involved in the account raid.
KyokoMakoto Yamashina is not missing at all. He's living a normal life. Happily, with his daughter Chika and his wife.
KyokoI'd like to bring this investigation to a close, if you don't mind.
KyokoYou're welcome at any time. Next time, feel free to use your real name.
KyokoMs. Yuuko Kamishiro.
Chapter 2: Search for the Father (Yuuko) 14 24 lines
KyokoGood afternoon. This is the Yamashina residence, is it not?
KyokoI'm actually looking for someone. Excuse me, but might I inquire as to your name?
KyokoThank you, Mr. Yamashina. One more question, sir.
KyokoI've heard someone in this area has gone missing. Might you know who that could be?
KyokoI see. Might I speak with your family about this as well?
KyokoWhere might your daughter be?
KyokoHmm... This is your daughter, Mr. Yamashina? You've no other children?
KyokoNot at all. Thank you for your assistance.
KyokoWe were able to get the info we needed after all.
KyokoBy the way, Mr. Yamashina, are you aware that your EDEN account was hacked?
KyokoYou can rest assured, however, that we have restored the account. You can use it freely now.
KyokoIs something wrong, Mr. Yamashina?
KyokoHmm. That was quite the brush-off.
KyokoAnd yet, we still got a lot of valuable info.
KyokoThis Chika is certainly Mr. Yamashina's daughter.
KyokoWhich means our client pretended to be Yamashina's daughter for this case.
KyokoI'm not really interested in why she was deceiving us on that front.
KyokoBut she wanted to find something out about him. What's the connection between the two of them?
KyokoThat's what really piques my interest.
KyokoThere's one more thing I'm concerned about.
KyokoBut let's leave that for now.
KyokoThe client said she'd come back to the agency. Let's have ourselves some coffee and wait for her!
KyokoCome on, let's head back to the agency.
Chapter 3: Digital Monsters 4 5 lines
KyokoHmm. Looks like it's case closed, I guess. Good work out there.
KyokoNormally, we'd go back to the agency, have some coffee, and I'd thank you.
KyokoBut I need you to head directly to Shinjuku.
KyokoA mysterious incident has occurred in Shinjuku. Could you go and give me an eyewitness report?
KyokoAnd if you could do it before the police arrive on the scene, that would be appreciated.
Chapter 3: Digital Monsters 11 17 lines
KyokoSo then the client is a friend of yours? We don't get to pick our clients, you know. We have to go with whoever can pay.
KyokoThat's not how this works.
KyokoNokia Shiramine, your friend here is a pro sleuth earning a paying wage for their work.
KyokoThe only way to ask something of a professional is to pay a professional rate for a case. Also, Player is my assistant.
KyokoA case for my assistant is a case for me. Do I make myself clear?
KyokoWell, what kind of case is it?
KyokoOh? Digimon?
KyokoHer attachment to Digimon is interesting. Hmph.
KyokoWell, she asked for you specifically. I'm inclined to leave it to you. What do you say?
KyokoHmm, if you've taken on this job, be sure to see it through to the end.
KyokoIt'll reflect on the agency's reputation. She'll probably be good advertising for us.
KyokoFrom missing persons to missing Digimon. Perfect cases for a cyber sleuth, no?
KyokoHee hee! Excellent. Get started with your investigation.
KyokoWhat's that? I seem happier than usual? If it's that obvious, I won't deny it.
KyokoBut, to be honest... I'm a little perplexed by this offbeat case. Hunting for Digimon!
KyokoPeople are totally careless when it comes to their affections, be they real or digital. It doesn't make any difference.
KyokoThis is going to be very interesting. Hee hee hee hee...
Chapter 4: Shinjuku Underground Labyrinth 11 34 lines
KyokoI see. So that's what the mess was.
KyokoYet, at the same time, it's very fortuitous.
KyokoInfo that's normally hard to come by in a normal investigation was right there in front of us.
KyokoEven sleuths need to get lucky sometimes.
KyokoWhat to call this case? For now, let's refer to it as the Shinjuku Labyrinth case.
KyokoA "labyrinth" is part of the underworld in folklore, otherwise known as a "Mayohiga."
KyokoThe spirit world, the netherworld, the land of the dead... It's a world beyond the borders of our own, out of phase, if you will.
KyokoThat what the spatial phenomenon that appeared in Shinjuku must be. Maybe "labyrinth" isn't quite the right word, but it's close enough.
KyokoThe reference comes from a collection of folklore tales by Kunio Yanagida, if you're ever interested in looking deeper into it.
KyokoThe important point is that, much as in these folktales about labyrinths, the phenomena recur over and over.
KyokoIn a way, I'm jealous you got to experience it firsthand. Parallel worlds really DO exist.
KyokoDigital World? Where did you hear that name?
KyokoI see. So after taking on Nokia Shiramine's case, you headed straight to Shinjuku. I missed that.
KyokoAnd you claim Digimon are not programs created by humans, but intelligent life forms from a parallel world.
KyokoOf course I believe you. I only know a tiny bit about the Digital World.
KyokoLet's put aside the Digital World question for the moment. It's not a riddle we can solve right now.
KyokoLet's go back and talk about the Shinjuku Labyrinth.
KyokoRight before I took you on as an assistant, there were some unsolved cases in Shinjuku.
KyokoAnd then you uncovered the Shinjuku case, not to mention the labyrinth case on top of that.
KyokoMy theory is that this all stems from irregularities with Digital Waves, regardless.
KyokoThese Digital Waves are growing unstable at key locations throughout Tokyo, not just Shinjuku.
KyokoSince it's not at a level that impacts our daily lives, we ignore it as being within the range of error.
KyokoThe issue is not the state of growing instability, but rather what's causing it. Why now?
KyokoIs it natural, or is it human interference? Is it an alien, or a paranormal phenomenon?
KyokoThis is an interesting case. We should press on with our investigation.
KyokoBy the way...
KyokoWhile you and I were out of contact, I decided to make the best of my time, and so I whipped up a special new coffee blend.
KyokoI was certain you'd be back with results. That was an elementary deduction.
KyokoYou've really been giving it your all. Your work has been excellent.
KyokoAnd now, as a reward, I've got a treat for you! Hee hee. I put a lot of effort into this!
KyokoIsn't it incredible?
KyokoThe miraculous harmony of coffee, yogurt, and seaweed boiled in soy.
Chapter 5: The Search Continues (Yuuko) 2 9 lines
KyokoHow did it go? Get any useful clues?
KyokoHmm. The Nile Corporation? I hadn't thought there'd be a connection there.
KyokoThe Nile Corporation... Our paths have crossed before.
KyokoDetective Matayoshi looked into the company once before.
KyokoMy father was involved in that investigation, too. They were following up on a "hunch," apparently.
KyokoOkay. You can look into that Nile Corporation for me.
KyokoYou might be able to get some info at the corporate pavilion near the EDEN entrance.
KyokoI'll look into the case files that my father and Detective Matayoshi put together back then.
KyokoAll right, I'm counting on you.
Chapter 5: The Search Continues (Yuuko) 4 20 lines
KyokoOh, thanks for doing the shopping.
KyokoWe were waiting for you to get back. As you can see, a client has arrived.
KyokoHuh? Mouth-watering? What are you talking about? This is our client...
KyokoHmm. Now then, Ms. Kamishiro. What matter of case brings you to us?
KyokoYou mean Mr. Satoru Kamishiro, the former president of Kamishiro Enterprises?
KyokoHe passed away last year. It was reported to have been a suicide, correct?
KyokoNo, there's nothing to apologize for.
KyokoBut why do you believe he wouldn't do it? Do you have some proof that he wasn't suicidal?
KyokoI see. That makes sense.
KyokoSo you believe Yamashina is connected to your father's death in some way?
KyokoHmm. So you had us investigate Makoto Yamashina as a prelude to this case, then.
KyokoThat was your way of testing us.
KyokoSince you've brought another case to us, that implies that we passed your test.
KyokoHeh. I hope such an honest answer is proof that we have earned your trust.
KyokoWe shall investigate your father's death.
KyokoSo it appears. Please leave the investigation to us.
KyokoThis could turn out to be a really big case. We've got to go all-out and solve it.
KyokoIf all goes well, we could expose Kamishiro's past, along with the company's inner workings.
KyokoI should ask Detective Matayoshi for his help.
Chapter 5: The Search Continues (Yuuko) 5 12 lines
KyokoAll right, let's get started on the case. I'll go over the info on Makoto Yamashina again.
KyokoWhile I'm doing that, I want you to go back out to his home and pay him another visit.
KyokoI don't know if we'll get anything new, but... Well, NVNG, I guess.
KyokoNVNG... NVNG... Hmm.
KyokoNo, sorry. Never mind. It's nothing important.
KyokoNVNG. It's something my father used to say a lot.
KyokoIt's an abbreviation, for "Nothing ventured, nothing gained." My father said something different, though.
Kyoko"Something ventured, something gained."
KyokoI always thought it should be abbreviated as
"SVSG," but...
KyokoIt's a rather elegant and refined expression, don't you think?
KyokoWell, no need to think too deeply on it. That would be inelegant.
KyokoOkay, enough with the chit-chat. Get on the case for me.
Chapter 5: The Search Continues (Yuuko) 6 15 lines
KyokoWell, something strange has happened, and we can't find the Nile Corporation case files.
KyokoSo I thought I'd ask someone directly involved with the case itself.
KyokoAt Kamishiro?
KyokoThis was that "hunch" of yours, isn't it?
KyokoA problem?
KyokoSo Kamishiro pulled the strings. That was a self-incriminating move, wasn't it?
KyokoHmph. That's good enough for me.
KyokoWell then, I say it's about time we had them return what they've been keeping for us.
KyokoLet's learn from the case of the Robbing Rooster.
KyokoWe don't force our way through a closed gate. Instead, we employ strategy, and have them open it for us.
KyokoA good detective makes the impossible possible.
KyokoWhat? We already have a rooster of our own lined up. Someone who can crow in just the way we need.
KyokoAnd we'll get her to help us when it comes to infiltrating Kamishiro.
KyokoAha. Speak of the devil.
KyokoHee hee! Once again, you've arrived right on time. This is my client, Yuuko Kamishiro.
Chapter 5: The Search Continues (Yuuko) 7 9 lines
KyokoWhat do you say? We really need your help with the investigation.
KyokoHmm. So long as you could get my assistant in, that would be terrific. Could you manage that?
KyokoWell, there we have it, Yuuko. Leave the domain of cyber sleuthing to us!
KyokoTo get in? I have an idea, actually...
KyokoThere was this one case where I got my hands on a little program...
KyokoI'm thinking of having it customized for my assistant, with the help of someone I know.
KyokoShall we get started with the preparations?
KyokoMy dear assistant, start by heading to Mirei Mikagura's place.
KyokoI'll let her know you're coming and why. You can get the details from her.
Chapter 5: The Search Continues (Yuuko) 8 33 lines
KyokoNever underestimate an opponent, I suppose. You think someone was eavesdropping?
KyokoHmph. Either way, we got the data we wanted.
KyokoAll's well that ends well and all that. Okay, let's check out our spoils.
KyokoThere's information on the Nile Corporation as well. Here it is! The file on Makoto Yamashina.
KyokoBut he changed his line of work and insists he's never even heard of Kamishiro despite their having bought out his own former company.
KyokoHmm...
KyokoHmm... This is very interesting indeed.
KyokoThere was another lead researcher at the Nile Corporation besides Makoto Yamashina...
KyokoAkemi Suedou.
KyokoHmm...
KyokoIf a true detective like you says so... I have no reason to deny you.
KyokoGo right ahead. Say hi to my dad.
KyokoWell, there we are. A tried-and-true detective will continue the case.
KyokoI don't see a problem. I figured we would continue to assist with the investigation, of course.
KyokoHmm... We all have our sorrows and our joys.
KyokoI appreciate all of your efforts here.
KyokoThis investigation involved some pretty thrilling stuff, even for a detective. You must be exhausted, body, mind, and soul.
KyokoRelax for a while.
KyokoHmm... You're certainly in good spirits.
KyokoBut what I mean is that you should rest while you can. That's one of your responsibilities, too.
KyokoBecause there will always be times when the cases won't wait, and you won't be able to rest.
KyokoSo you should rest now while you can. Don't waste the window of opportunity.
KyokoYou're not convinced? You're must be overflowing with energy.
KyokoAll right, I've got some work to give you. A special job that only you can do.
KyokoHmph. Such a rudimentary conjecture!
KyokoNo, your being a test subject was furthest from my mind. I was planning on giving you a treat.
KyokoHmm...
KyokoLet's try to match things to your tastes this time.
KyokoAll right, to start with, which do you prefer? Salmon roe or sea urchin?
KyokoI recommend both, personally.
KyokoNext I was thinking about adding in some stew. What do you like as far ingredients go?
KyokoWell, what might you like? Carrots, potatoes, beef, mushrooms...
KyokoOr should we just throw them all in?
Chapter 5: The Search Continues (Yuuko) 11 21 lines
KyokoHow are things going?
KyokoI believe my assistant was in the middle of an operation when I noticed the connection link drop.
KyokoHmm. Those are some impressive skills.
KyokoNo. I'm talking about you, Yuuko Kamishiro.
KyokoThe way you arranged the tour of the office, and the way you've been responding to everything. You're quite good at thinking on your feet.
KyokoI'd say you're an old hat at this sort of thing. Just who are you, exactly?
KyokoHmm...
KyokoHuh?!
KyokoUh-oh! We've been made!
KyokoWe could be in trouble. Seems our conversation is being eavesdropped on.
KyokoIn all likelihood, someone has placed a wiretap program on your Digivice in the real world.
KyokoI should have noticed it sooner. It takes some real skill to finagle this specific a frequency.
KyokoHmph. Whoever's doing this knows their stuff.
KyokoYeah. I hate to make this call, but you need to pull out of there ASAP. Consider it a valiant retreat of sorts.
KyokoSlow and steady wins the race. This line of work requires a patient and diligent disposition.
KyokoYes. I doubt it'll be easy to get the 'abort mission' order through.
KyokoBut Player is my assistant, and should be able to figure something out.
KyokoYou're not in a position to worry about anyone else right now. Hurry up and get out of there.
KyokoI'll wait for whatever caused my assistant's little vanishing act to wear off.
KyokoOn your way out, it should be possible to cover your tracks and employ some misdirection from the outside.
KyokoIt's too risky to keep this conversation going. I'm going to cut the line.
Chapter 5: The Search Continues (Yuuko) 13 4 lines
KyokoThere! I got through! Abort mission! Get out of there now!
KyokoOh? You found the case files? All the more reason to hurry and get out.
KyokoOur plans were leaked to the enemy. I don't know how bad the damage is.
KyokoFor right now, just be careful.
Chapter 5: The Search Continues (Yuuko) 15 10 lines
KyokoHmm. Things went well, it seems.
KyokoI'm sure you have many questions, but start by focusing on the relevant case.
KyokoI heard from Yuuko Kamishiro earlier, and you've been invited to Kamishiro corporate HQ.
KyokoAccess this URL to access an account with privileges to tour the corporate office.
KyokoThe privileges are limited to the lobby, but that should be enough to let you get in without too much more trouble.
KyokoWe've had our rooster crow. Now to set the fox loose in the henhouse.
KyokoYou've gotten some handy hacking skills, I know, but you'll need to think on your feet in there.
KyokoBe the wolf in sheep's clothing! It'll take all your cunning, skill, and bravery to sneak on in and waltz out with the grand prize.
KyokoAlso, for the record, Detective Matayoshi isn't involved with obtaining and using the hacking skills for this case. Keep that in mind.
KyokoNow then, let's get this job done.
Chapter 6: Disappearances in Akihabara 16 16 lines
KyokoOkay. What's our next move going to be? I think we need to get more information after all.
KyokoWe've got the Digital Waves happening all over the place, the Mystery Incidents, plus your half-cyber body.
KyokoPlus there's the Kamishiro case that Matayoshi is working on. There's a lot we need to keep our eyes on.
KyokoOh, my. We have a visitor.
KyokoWelcome to the reliable and experienced Kuremi Detective Agency.
KyokoDo you have a case for us, Assistant Inspector Makiko Date of the Cyber Crimes Unit Special Office?
KyokoHmm... Fishy, you say?
KyokoThat's a rather lackluster way of putting things for someone as unique and individualistic in their word and fashion choices, Assistant Inspector.
KyokoSo you say "fishy," but what exactly do you mean by that, I wonder?
KyokoIs there actually some foul stench you've turned up? Or was that just a figure of speech?
KyokoYou've piqued my curiosity.
KyokoBut of course.
KyokoAs lowly detectives, we cannot abrogate our duty to assist the police.
KyokoIsn't that right, Player?
KyokoMy duties are yours, and your duties are yours. Carry them out to the fullest.
KyokoOops, I have to be going. I have an appointment with a client.
Chapter 6: Disappearances in Akihabara 17 15 lines
KyokoHow did it go? Did you youngsters have fun?
KyokoJokes aside, we're caught up with a pretty rough customer now. That's your... no, that's my karma at work.
KyokoRegardless, you took on the case, so I expect you to do a good job.
KyokoI'll stay out of Detective Matayoshi's way by not making any moves out in the open.
KyokoRelax, though. I'll still be supporting you.
KyokoWell, let's get down to it. What are you planning to do?
KyokoI see. Get info on the missing persons from Akihabara?
KyokoA detective needs to tread the same path over and over again. But I can tell you know that already.
KyokoBy the way...
KyokoWhen I checked, "fishy" had meanings like shady, dubious, and tricky.
KyokoAnd certainly, a detective might unknowingly take on a fishy air, I suppose.
KyokoBut I think that's just a front, and I'm not alone in that.
KyokoAs it is, you're an unconventional cyber sleuth. I'm looking forward to catching a whiff of whatever stench you wind up emitting.
KyokoGo to Akihabara and track down those folks who've gone missing.
KyokoWhat's that? There's a client waiting outside? Hmph... Well, of course there is.
Chapter 6: Disappearances in Akihabara 19 10 lines
KyokoOh-ho... That's brilliant.
KyokoHmm... If that's what we're looking for, then it was put together by a very unique program.
KyokoI see... The structure is certainly similar but... If so, then it's been significantly altered.
KyokoIt's been affected by "something" that can't be expressed with 0s and 1s. Or maybe that's what that very something is.
KyokoWell, you've got one talented partner there!
KyokoIf he's your assistant... Then that makes him my assistant's assistant.
KyokoWell, then, my assistant! Yield to your assistant's zeal!
KyokoThere's an old saying. "With skill comes luck."
KyokoWhen you really look at it, the fact that you and he have formed this connection shows your own luck... along with your skill.
KyokoRespect that, or you're sure to regret it.
Chapter 6: Disappearances in Akihabara 21 19 lines
KyokoHmm... Quite the adventure! A labyrinth, some disappearances, and a giant Digimon to boot.
KyokoIt's that giant Digimon that warrants the most attention, though.
KyokoLet's think back on that man who was being controlled by that one Digimon.
KyokoThat Digimon had influence over him, but this girl seems to have had the influence over the Digimon.
KyokoHer deep-seated delusions, her desperate need for approval...
KyokoThe workings of her mind called a Digimon to her, and she wound up in complete control over it.
KyokoThe bond between them then grew stronger when the labyrinth appeared, to a supernatural degree.
KyokoShe was no hacker, though. She was just an ordinary person, only weakly connected to Digimon.
KyokoRegardless, this incident occurred as a result of the fact that the Digimon was enhanced.
KyokoThere are phenomenal powers hidden away within the realm of human consciousness.
KyokoAnyway, congratulations on resolving the case. Thanks for all your hard work.
KyokoYou are not only blessed with good luck, but also continue to exhibit great skill.
KyokoI couldn't ask for anything more.
KyokoI am concerned about Akemi Suedou's activities, however.
KyokoWhy was a man of his caliber alone inside the labyrinth despite all the dangers he would face?
KyokoMaybe ordinary people like us can't fathom the behavior of geniuses?
KyokoRather, that is to say, their motives are beyond our understanding.
KyokoInferences become conjecture, leaving the actual facts behind, I suppose.
KyokoI might be thinking too hard about this, getting lost in my own labyrinth of thoughts and emotions.
Chapter 7: Demon Pilgrimage Capriccio 2 12 lines
KyokoHmm... This guy came to sell the medal? Looks like we weren't wrong about that.
KyokoAnd the buyer's attitude did a 180 when you name-dropped Detective Matayoshi? Guess the old man has some real pull.
KyokoThere are probably plenty of people who owe him. And a lot of people he must have dirt on, too.
KyokoBy the way, I've made some progress on the investigation on my end as well. I picked up the signal of a Digimon medal.
KyokoA very rare Digimon medal, to which a unique ID has been assigned. I've managed to track it down, but nothing beyond that.
KyokoThe ID has a privacy setting, preventing the owner and address from being identified.
KyokoIt was a real trick to analyze. The protection on it is pretty darn tough. Heh!
KyokoBut anyway...
KyokoResults of the trace picked up signals across the globe, but there was only one signal in EDEN.
KyokoI would guess that this is the client's medal.
KyokoThe signal came from Kowloon Lv. 4, and from somewhere pretty deep inside the area. I'd like you to head there immediately.
KyokoIt's a rough place, so be ready for danger. I leave the case in your hands now.
Chapter 7: Demon Pilgrimage Capriccio 4 7 lines
KyokoHmm. That's the first time you heard someone go
"boof"? What a splendid experience for you!
KyokoBut more importantly...
KyokoHuh? What? Did you get the Digimon medal back?
KyokoThat's some impressive work in such a short time.
KyokoBy the way, I contacted you because I had new info. Right now, the next case is at the agency.
KyokoGiven the client and the particulars, I decided that it'd be better for you to cover it.
KyokoSorry to dogpile you with stuff, but could I have you come back to the office ASAP?
Chapter 7: Demon Pilgrimage Capriccio 10 23 lines
KyokoHow'd it go? Getting used to working as a detective?
KyokoI see. No real feel for it yet? But I'm going to need you to work even harder.
KyokoOur agency's motto is...
KyokoOur agency's motto is, "Reject not those who come, chase not those who leave, those who will not work will not eat." My father taught me that.
KyokoHuh? We already have a newspaper subscription.
KyokoWe've got a fire extinguisher and the Internet, too. We've got everything our office needs. Sorry.
KyokoHuh?
Kyoko... ...
KyokoWelcome to the reliable Kuremi Detective Agency. Please, tell us the details of your case.
KyokoHmm. In other words...
KyokoYou planned to buy Digimon Capture from a hacker but were robbed of a very rare Digimon medal.
KyokoObsessions?
KyokoWe understand what you're trying to say.
KyokoTo summarize, you'd like us to get your very rare Digimon medal back for you. Correct?
KyokoWe'll take on the case. We'll do our best to honor your emotions.
KyokoDid you get that, Player?
KyokoThe perpetrator likely didn't want the medal itself. I'm guessing the plan was to pawn it for cash given how rare it is.
KyokoThere's a shop that deals in Digimon medals here in Nakano, if I remember correctly.
KyokoThat would be an ideal place to begin the case. Start by asking questions.
KyokoMeanwhile, I'll look into this Digimon medal.
KyokoIt's too bad I don't share that same degree of obsession.
Chapter 7: Demon Pilgrimage Capriccio 11 11 lines
KyokoHere is your next client. Your friend Sakura's mother.
KyokoYou said she'd been acting very odd lately. Could you be more specific, ma'am?
KyokoAnd that was when she ran away.
KyokoBut why bring you all the way here?
KyokoThe camel's back?
KyokoHence the camel's back?
KyokoA large-scale airwave hijacking, a big sponsor, all while police attention is elsewhere...
KyokoKamishiro?
KyokoLeave your daughter to us, ma'am. We'll find her. You can count on us.
KyokoStay calm and wait at home. In fact, why don't I drop you off there?
KyokoPlayer, get the details from Detective Matayoshi, okay?
Chapter 7: Demon Pilgrimage Capriccio 12 18 lines
KyokoI just passed Detective Matayoshi on the street. What happened? It looked like there were tears in his eyes.
KyokoHmm...
KyokoThe detective is a... passionate man, you know?
KyokoHe's well aware that your Connection Jump ability skirts the boundaries of what's legal.
KyokoPlus, he'd ordinarily never ask so much from someone who's still only a child.
KyokoBut...
KyokoFor Matayoshi, going after Kamishiro is very personal.
KyokoHonestly, the old man thinks I shouldn't get myself involved in this.
KyokoBut I'm going after Kamishiro as well.
KyokoHe's probably thinking that, since he can't stop me, he can still look out for my well-being.
KyokoHe's too passionate for his own good. It can be almost painful to watch sometimes. Hee hee...
KyokoSorry for rambling on like that.
KyokoOkay, then. Let's get back to the topic at hand.
KyokoTrack down the clues on the missing Sakura.
KyokoAny lead is good, even a small one. Check places she'd usually go, and pick up her trail.
KyokoWhile you're doing that, I'll look into Jimiken and this disturbing video.
KyokoI've got a general guess percolating, but if I'm not careful in checking things out, there could well be fatal consequences.
KyokoI don't want to lose my assistant through my own personal negligence.
Chapter 7: Demon Pilgrimage Capriccio 15 12 lines
KyokoAn "evil pilgrimage," you say? In all likelihood, that's where Sakura has gone.
KyokoAnd the evil pilgrimage seems to be aptly named. Jimiken may be a frightful man in more ways than one.
KyokoAnd I just finished looking into that music video. That disturbing video was...
KyokoThe video's got some fiendish stuff encoded into it. I'd try to avoid watching much of it if I were you.
KyokoYou may have heard of this particular trick. It's called "subliminal messaging."
KyokoSubliminal messages. Simply put, messages are sent directly to the brain by slipping images from one video into another so fast they can't be seen.
KyokoThat video is subliminally set to be as addictive as a drug. It effectively hypnotizes you.
KyokoWhat's scarier is what it makes you do afterward. There's a post-hypnotic suggestion built in.
KyokoWithout a doubt.
KyokoThe suggestion includes a certain URL.
KyokoI couldn't get the whole address, but it strongly resembles the area in which we captured the Digimon medal thief.
KyokoThe location is on Kowloon Lv. 4. Get there ASAP and check it out for me.
Chapter 7: Demon Pilgrimage Capriccio 16 11 lines
KyokoI see. Then you were able to safely rescue all those who had been subliminally brainwashed?
KyokoMore importantly, how are you doing? I heard the hackers did some nasty things to you.
KyokoAh, the passion of youth...
KyokoHmm. If I were to summarize the police report, it would probably read like this. The Demons and Kamishiro conspired together...
KyokoWe're missing something, but what? Or will that something make itself known?
KyokoIs trying to jump to a conclusion with what little info we have now too big a risk?
KyokoLet's proceed on the possibility that we're either missing something, or that something will turn up.
KyokoThanks for all your effort again. You have my thanks as well, Nokia Shiramine.
KyokoMaybe this is also the passion of youth at work.
KyokoEnough of that. Any progress on the Kamishiro and Nile Corporation case, old man?
KyokoHaste makes waste, right?
Chapter 8: No Stopping the Gale Girls 12 18 lines
KyokoIndeed. Our opponent is not to be underestimated. They really got the upper hand.
KyokoIn other words, they admitted their guilt before we could pursue any charges.
KyokoIt's a matter of speculation, but I suspect that it was Kishibe who ordered that announcement.
KyokoShe probably figured that if she got it to the press first, she could avoid the apologies and explanations that would invariably come later.
KyokoBut to couple that with announcements of her becoming the new CEO, as well as these new large- scale EDEN updates, all at the same time...
KyokoOn the other hand, we did get evidence proving a connection between Kishibe and the Demon hackers.
KyokoI see.
KyokoNo need to apologize. Even if we'd rushed into things earlier, it probably would have all turned out the same.
KyokoGreat. Just when we're having a serious talk. At least use a ringtone that doesn't suck all the dramatic tension out of the room.
KyokoOh-ho, a call from Nokia Shiramine?
KyokoDon't worry about us. Just go.
KyokoYou know the saying, "Strike while the iron is hot"?
KyokoThere's nothing we can do for right now. Waiting for her to make the first move is a valid plan on our part.
KyokoMaybe rushing into things might not be the worst idea. Just a little bit.
KyokoThere's no guarantee that half-cyber form will be able to sustain itself forever, and if Kamishiro finds out whose body it is at the hospital...
KyokoOr possibly...
KyokoIt could be that they're leaving Player alone on purpose. That they've known the truth for a while now.
Chapter 8: No Stopping the Gale Girls 16 10 lines
KyokoWell, that was fast! Are you done with your business with your friend?
KyokoThe Rebels? The friend of a friend is a friend?
KyokoI have no idea what you're talking about, but you seem the type to be easily embroiled in trouble.
KyokoHmm? What happened to Detective Matayoshi? He just went home a few minutes ago.
KyokoWe're going to wait for Kamishiro to make their next move. For now, you have some free time.
KyokoHelping your friends might be a good use of your time right now.
KyokoYou never know how the wheels of fate will turn. After all, as they say, "One good turn deserves another."
Kyoko... Huh?
Kyoko"One good turn deserves another." You're saying I'm using that proverb wrong?
KyokoHeh! If that's what you think, go look up the correct meaning.
Chapter 8: No Stopping the Gale Girls 17 10 lines
KyokoYou're awfully late, aren't you?
KyokoNo, no, it's fine. It's not like there's been any real movement here.
KyokoWhat? There's been movement?
KyokoI knew I had it right. "One good turn deserves another." Give me the details on what happened.
KyokoHmm...
KyokoYou should let Nokia do as she wishes. She's not as thoughtless as she looks, or seems.
KyokoHer response clearly comes after a lot of careful thought. We have no right to stand in her way.
KyokoI think Arata's got the right idea about sneaking into Kamishiro. Let's wait on him to form our strategy.
KyokoHeehee... Things have certainly gotten a bit more exciting, haven't they?
KyokoYou can't really help but get a rush from it!
Chapter 9: Our Master Plan! 1 5 lines
KyokoI've...been...aiting. Can you...ear me? Can you hear me?
KyokoAha. Well done. And now for the passcode...
KyokoDon't worry about her. She'll do a good job.
KyokoShe's a bit wet behind the ears, but she's desperate, and there's nothing scarier--and no one most dependable--than a novice who's desperate.
KyokoI'll check with her for the passcode.
Chapter 9: Our Master Plan! 4 11 lines
KyokoSorry to keep you waiting. Yuuko got her hands on the passcode.
KyokoSending it now.
KyokoDid it go through? That's passcode to the secret room.
KyokoApparently the password wasn't something that was capable of being deduced via hacking.
KyokoYou'd have to have a strong handle on her personality, or else make a lucky guess.
KyokoYes, rie_k*totes_adorbs.
KyokoI did mention how the passcode changes daily, right? This one is still valid.
KyokoBy the way, yesterday's passcode was...
KyokoNo, let's just move on, shall we? It's a bit too lurid for minors like you.
KyokoAll right, proceed with the operation.
KyokoWe don't want Yuuko's efforts to be in vain. You have to make your way inside!
Chapter 9: Our Master Plan! 6 9 lines
KyokoThat's fine. I am really looking forward to seeing your Kamishiro infiltration plan.
KyokoI'll take that as a compliment. Yet that operation still ended with nothing to show for it.
KyokoNow I get it. You've got your eyes on an even deeper level.
KyokoThen you'll access the secret room, correct?
KyokoI see. We were certainly unable to find anything conclusive last time.
KyokoIf it's anywhere, it'll probably be in the secret room.
KyokoOh? Admitting defeat already? That's not like you. What, did you have a bad experience there?
KyokoHmm...
KyokoIf you bail on us now, we lose everything. Anyway, our target today is the secret room.
Chapter 9: Our Master Plan! 7 33 lines
KyokoThere was official word from Kamishiro that an Eater appeared at the preview event.
KyokoIt seems that Kamishiro claimed that hackers with malicious intent interrupted the preview.
KyokoTo the general public, hackers are nothing more than outlaws, and they're demanding that scapegoats be brought forth.
KyokoPut it this way. Hackers "reap what they sow." Pardon me if that sounds a bit harsh.
KyokoStill, this brouhaha might make it easier for you all to slip in unnoticed.
KyokoInteresting. The reason why might be in here.
Kyoko"Rie's Heart-Wrenching Diary"... As I expected, a library of top-secret Kamishiro information.
KyokoIt was encoded with advanced encryption, but I finally decoded it just a short while ago.
KyokoThe Paradise Lost Plan.
KyokoYes. Have you heard of it?
KyokoWell, this is the first I've heard of it.
KyokoIt seems that Kamishiro is controlling the Digital Waves to execute some large-scale plan.
KyokoIt might be slightly misleading to say that.
KyokoKamishiro's goal is for the Paradise Lost Plan to succeed. The Digital Shifts are simply a side- effect of that.
KyokoThe upcoming large-scale update to EDEN is a part of that plan, it seems.
KyokoYes, well, unfortunately the documentation doesn't describe the plan itself at all.
KyokoThat said, what is included, and this is very interesting, is the name of the individual responsible for developing the plan.
KyokoIt's Akemi Suedou.
KyokoAnd there was one other interesting piece of information in there.
KyokoIt's about the first victim of EDEN Syndrome.
KyokoThere was a closed beta test run eight years ago, before the EDEN cyberspace was opened to the public.
KyokoDuring the test, there was an accident brought about due to unforeseen errors.
KyokoOne of the individuals involved never regained consciousness and became the first EDEN Syndrome patient.
KyokoThat is a topic for our next investigation.
KyokoIt's what makes big companies so scary. Their refusal to stop for something so "trivial."
KyokoThat's why this intel is so valuable. We've got to share it with Detective Matayoshi.
KyokoNothing ventured, nothing gained... Well, you've really gained something this time!
KyokoNo. At the very least, there wasn't anything in the data that was brought back.
KyokoHmm. It seems like there's something on her mind.
KyokoI've revised my opinion of you a little, kid. You value your friends more than I thought.
KyokoAll right, then.
KyokoBut perhaps active encouragement is better than verbal. I've got a new coffee idea!
KyokoThis is special. Oyster sauce for extra punch, or maybe you'd prefer apple cider vinegar?
Chapter 9: Our Master Plan! 16 2 lines
KyokoAre you two okay?!
KyokoIt seems there was a disturbance at the preview.
Chapter 9: Our Master Plan! 17 2 lines
KyokoKamishiro has put an emergency stop to the EDEN service for the time being.
KyokoThe announcement claims illegal access by hackers as the reason behind it.
Chapter 9: Our Master Plan! 19 6 lines
KyokoYou've got the information?
KyokoThat's excellent. Get out of there as soon as you can.
KyokoWith all the confusion going on now, you should be able to leave right through the front entrance.
KyokoEDEN's servers are shut down for the time being. There shouldn't be any more victims today.
KyokoI understand your desire to get rid of the Eaters, but think about it.
KyokoMaking contact with one would run the risk of destroying the confidential information.
Chapter 10: To the Promised Land 9 9 lines
KyokoEv-- one ---ight? Can you --ear --oice?
KyokoIt seems I finally got through. I don't think I have long, though.
KyokoAs far as I can tell, someone has sent a high- density Digital Wave to your area.
KyokoThe answer is relatively simple. Eaters are attracted to Digital Waves.
KyokoThat being the case, you have to stop the Digital Wave at its source.
KyokoDo that, and no more Eaters should appear.
KyokoHeehee... No matter what condition y-- are in, you al--ys move at ----me pace.
KyokoI'm a little relieved... You sh-- be able to --t out of th-- tight spot.
KyokoI'll have a pot of my special ble--- waiting. Make sure you come b--- safely.
Chapter 10: To the Promised Land 13 7 lines
KyokoIt seems there've been some rapid developments.
KyokoRegardless, I'm glad you're okay. Watch out for cars.
KyokoI should be able to calculate Yuuko's position from your Digivice's log data.
KyokoStart by returning to the agency. I'll contact Arata and Nokia.
KyokoHmm. I understand your excitement. I suppose it's only natural.
KyokoYet now is when you must remain calm. You must understand the situation before you act.
KyokoYes. That is precisely why you are my assistant.
Chapter 11: Paradise Lost 1 3 lines
KyokoI'm sorry to have kept you waiting. Verification took longer than I expected.
KyokoBut there's a reason for that. A number of interesting things have come to light.
KyokoReturn to the agency. We need to plan our counterattack ASAP.
Chapter 11: Paradise Lost 3 3 lines
KyokoHmm. The effect of the Digital Wave is stronger than it was before.
KyokoDigimon and Eaters are likely to appear. Be ready for anything.
KyokoHave you just now noticed that Roppongi is about
10 kilometers away? Walking there will take about two hours.
Chapter 11: Paradise Lost 4 9 lines
KyokoDid I miss something? Are you all suddenly wearing roller blades or something?
KyokoOr have you broken out into a dead run, panting breathlessly, to get to Yuuko's side?
KyokoHmm... Then why was I getting a signal from your Digivices in Akasaka after twenty or so minutes?
KyokoAnd yet your signal is most definitely coming from just underneath Akasaka right now. Why?
KyokoHmm... The labyrinth might be having a slight physical effect on you here.
KyokoThe distance to Roppongi has been shortened due to the Digital Shift.
KyokoYou can't tell, being underground, but the spatial distortion has contracted the distance, allowing you to reach Roppongi more quickly than expected.
KyokoI also just noticed something else.
KyokoThere is a signal from another Digivice behind you. It could be an enemy. Be on guard.
Chapter 11: Paradise Lost 9 18 lines
KyokoYou're late. Look at the TV. They're covering the Under Zero incident.
KyokoThe reports are saying the mass outbreak of EDEN Syndrome was caused by hacking activity in EDEN.
KyokoIt's a unilateral indictment against hackers... and of course, there's not a single word on the mastermind, Kishibe.
KyokoAt the very least the scheme paints Kamishiro as the victim and hackers as the perpetrators.
KyokoKishibe laid the blame on the hackers, and must still be using Yuuko Kamishiro to further the Paradise Lost Plan.
KyokoI don't have any clues as to that.
KyokoHowever, Kishibe's plan must be nearing its climax, and Yuuko is the key to its final stage.
KyokoKishibe flooded Under Zero with a massive Digital Wave to control the unpredictable Eaters.
KyokoThat must have been just an experiment. Eaters and the Digital Wave. To see whether or not it was possible to control them both.
KyokoShe was able to wipe out the hackers she had been manipulating, so it was two birds with one stone. You were the bait!
KyokoRie Kishibe finally mastered control over the flow of Digital Waves. This had eluded her until now.
KyokoThe Paradise Lost Plan could start at any moment now. We need to find Yuuko Kamishiro fast!
KyokoWe'll check your log information for that. At the same time, we must figure out what the true objective of this plan is.
KyokoWhat does she achieve by being able to control Digital Waves? That's the crux of the Paradise Lost Plan.
KyokoWe've got data on the latest labyrinth events and new info on Digital Wave flows.
KyokoIf we compare them, we should be able to predict conclusively where Digital Waves will occur.
KyokoThat locus will, in all likelihood, be the focal point of her plan.
KyokoIt'll take some time to verify all this. Please wait a little longer.
Chapter 11: Paradise Lost 10 46 lines
KyokoThere's still one important person who isn't here yet.
KyokoSorry, but this strategy depends on all of you.
KyokoI need our wild one and our legendary-yet-stunted boy to work together on this.
KyokoSo says Arata. Any objections from our wild one?
KyokoHmm... So that's the whole story behind the Paradise Lost Plan. I see.
KyokoHee hee. Now all my theories have been proven. Thank you, wild one.
KyokoHeehee... I think it's time to start the meeting for real, now.
KyokoWe have Fact A: Rie Kishibe's objective is to open a hole in the Dimensional Wall, a sort of
"Dimensional Door," if you will.
KyokoFact B: Rie Kishibe has abducted Yuuko Kamishiro.
KyokoThese two facts cannot be unrelated. She must have needed B in order to carry out A.
KyokoAnd A has still yet to be achieved.
KyokoOur strategy must therefore allow us to both successfully rescue Yuuko Kamishiro, as well as to stop all aspects of the Paradise Lost Plan.
Kyoko...stop all aspects of the Paradise Lost Plan.
KyokoAn excellent conjecture, true.
KyokoBut I have some new evidence I'd like to present. It should clear away your doubts.
KyokoHaving run simulations on the labyrinth locations and the detectable Digital Wave flows...
KyokoI've identified the existence of a large-scale, stable, and regularly-occurring Energy Locus.
KyokoIt is a circular flow of energy that covers all of Tokyo. I've named this circular network the Digital Line.
KyokoSurprisingly, this Energy Locus, which is comprised of Digital Waves, is under human control.
KyokoIn all probability, it is under the control of Kishibe at Kamishiro.
KyokoThe EDEN Spots placed throughout the city also seem to be related to this Energy Locus.
KyokoThat's right. This network of lymph node-like structures resembles ley lines, conduits of supernatural energy known from antiquity.
KyokoA digital version of an energy line... Kishibe must have spent a long time putting this Digital Line together.
KyokoThe structure that cycles the Digital Waves seems to be a kind of "energy reactor."
KyokoThe structure is truly well-constructed. It stores, excites, amplifies, and releases energy.
KyokoWhen the massive amount of energy stored in the Digital Line is released as a Digital Wave, I believe this door will open.
KyokoGiven how amplified I estimate this energy to be, I feel it's safe to say that the Paradise Lost Plan could be brought into fruition at any time.
KyokoFurthermore, there's a place right now where the energy flow is changing drastically...
KyokoTracing that flow back, we arrive at Roppongi.
KyokoBeneath Roppongi is a Kamishiro research facility. It's called the "Roppongi Underground Center."
KyokoVery dry, no? The name makes you think it's a government-related facility.
KyokoYes. The underpass you investigated before. This is that "certain facility" that was back there.
KyokoUpon analysis of your log data, the coordinates match where you left Yuuko. That's got to be the nerve center where this is all based out of.
KyokoHmph. It's okay, Geeta.
KyokoWe've got to interfere with her control of the Digital Waves itself.
KyokoAs I explained, the Digital Line is an artificial construct for controlling Digital Wave flow.
KyokoThat control occurs via various terminals, including the EDEN Spots, for its functions.
KyokoIn other words, if we could jam them...
KyokoExactly. But they must be aware of their own vulnerabilities, and likely have backup power supplies already prepared.
KyokoTherefore, we're going to need to strike in multiple places at once, or our whole plan comes apart.
KyokoI see. I had been thinking of asking you to hack into the various EDEN Spots here and there...
KyokoAssuming as we should that Kishibe is full of lies, we should strike at the weak points first.
Kyoko"Be extremely subtle, even to the point of formlessness," as the saying goes.
KyokoHmph, so good of you to grasp that so quickly.
KyokoYou should head to the Roppongi Underground Center right now, from the underpass.
KyokoPlayer knows the way, I believe.
Chapter 14: What is a Youth? 4 10 lines
KyokoYou're sure you won't regret this?
KyokoDon't!
KyokoHis will is strong. It's pointless to say anything now.
KyokoWhat do you need to be doing now? Answer as my assistant.
KyokoI have no idea what you just said...
KyokoBut it was a very you response. Let's see what conclusion that response leads us to, shall we?
KyokoIt'd do no good to chase them too far now. Let's return to the agency.
KyokoSome exquisite coffee is waiting for us.
KyokoThat said, we won't have the time to savor it.
Chapter 15: Parallel World 18 20 lines
KyokoHmm... I see. So that happened as well. It must have been very rough.
KyokoOh... I'm sorry I couldn't answer when you called. I've been tracking Royal Knights as they appear above ground. It was harder than I'd expected.
KyokoYet after all the hard work, I was able to roughly pinpoint their positions.
KyokoThere are Royal Knight signals in four locations:
Odaiba, Shibuya, Ueno, and EDEN.
KyokoThe clearest such signal is coming from Odaiba. Examon is there.
KyokoExamon has the most destructive power of all the Royal Knights, but he has been hindered due to being predated on and eroded by Eaters.
KyokoWhen the Dimensional Door opened, you must have seen Examon, being worn away by Eaters?
KyokoThe Defense Forces have Examon surrounded. I suggest we leave this to them for a little bit.
KyokoThe remaining signal in Shibuya is Magnamon. Gankoomon is in Ueno... ...and the one I detected in EDEN is Kentaurosmon.
KyokoThose are the only ones signaling right now. The rest are likely jamming their signals.
KyokoOkay, then. You know what you have to do next?
KyokoHmm... What we need to do is to disrupt the Royal Knights' influence to the best of our ability.
KyokoWhere possible, gain new friends, and...
KyokoWhat's the matter? You look a little spaced out. Are you okay?
KyokoHmm. That's fine, but turning chicken won't work.
KyokoOkay, get some caffeine in you before you go. I need to whip something up myself anyway.
KyokoIt's been a while, so go slowly.
KyokoHave your taste buds developed since we met last? You're an adult if you can appreciate this coffee.
KyokoOkay, it's time for work. Make as many Royal Knights our allies as possible!
KyokoHeehee! We can't start properly without a little back-and-forth like this!
Chapter 15: Parallel World 19 5 lines
KyokoI see. Magnamon has become an ally. He is a leader among the Knights. We have made a powerful friend.
KyokoHuh? How come I know so much about the Royal Knights?
KyokoThink about it. I'm a detective. Of course I've investigated them.
KyokoHmm. You want to know how? Well, that's...
Kyoko...going to have be a company secret for now. Heehee! I'm sure your questions will be answered.
Chapter 15: Parallel World 20 4 lines
KyokoI see. So a new Royal Knight has been born.
KyokoNo, I'm not surprised. The world constantly sees these sorts of updates happening again and again.
KyokoIt's true in the real world and the Digital World.
KyokoYou, too, may someday surpass me. I look forward to that day.
Chapter 15: Parallel World 21 16 lines
KyokoHmm... Of course it would have to be UlforceVeedramon.
KyokoActually, UlforceVeedramon is the only one whose signal I haven't been able to detect anywhere.
KyokoIt might be too early to give up on him.
KyokoHave you heard of the theory of multidimensional space? Or, to put it in more plain terms, the idea of parallel worlds?
KyokoThe basic idea is that there are countless worlds overlapping one another, one for every different possibility.
KyokoAnd so every time something happens in one world, a new reality branches off, containing the other possibility.
KyokoParallel worlds are independent from one another. It's not possible to interfere with them.
KyokoOr so it's believed. There is a similar structure we know quite well.
KyokoIndeed! They didn't intersect before, but now they do.
KyokoIt no longer seems to be the rule that the various worlds can't come into contact with each other.
KyokoPrecisely. Normally we'd never do this, but it's worth a try.
KyokoI know someone who knows a thing or two.
KyokoHer name is Mirei Mikagura. Fortunately, she also lives here in Nakano.
KyokoEven so. If we verify this, the possibility arises that Eaters could be come here from another world. From a parallel world.
KyokoIt's just a conjecture. There are other, more important, things to do now.
KyokoGo and talk to Mirei Mikagura. She should know something.
Chapter 15: Parallel World 23 8 lines
KyokoI see... Kentaurosmon must have been confused.
KyokoHe's just running around, and isn't causing any damage. Maybe he's trying to clear his head?
KyokoBut as for that Rina Shinomiya... No... I have no questions to ask about her.
KyokoIn any event, UlforceVeedramon has unparalleled fighting power. We must thank Mirei Mikagura.
KyokoThat's it! I'll develop a new blend for her.
KyokoWhy are you looking so meh? Are you thinking she won't "get" my coffee?
KyokoIt's been a secret up until now but she understands my creative energies, and in fact, she even helps me focus them.
KyokoOne of my four masterpieces was her idea. The Bonito Broth and Balsamic Vinegar Blend.
Chapter 15: Parallel World 24 7 lines
KyokoOur Royal Knight allies are coming along well.
KyokoBut Leopardmon must be aware of our actions. Don't let your guard down.
KyokoOh-ho, how rare! A call from Date!
KyokoHmm... Was that supposed to be a case request? It's like I'm the town handyman around here...
KyokoThis makes it vague when it comes to the contract. It's a problem, but there's nothing to be done.
KyokoThat monster... If an Eater has appeared, then maybe conditions have changed.
KyokoOkay, it's your turn. The location is Asakusa. Head over there ASAP.
Chapter 15: Parallel World 27 2 lines
KyokoIf this keeps up, Kentaurosmon won't listen at all.
KyokoCome back to the agency. Omnimon should have some ideas as to what to do.
Chapter 16: Diver City - Isle of Dragons 7 7 lines
KyokoIt looks like you've arrived in Odaiba.
KyokoI've been monitoring the state of the Digital Waves occurring in various areas.
KyokoBut the values around Odaiba have suddenly increased.
KyokoAs Suedou said, they had technology to control Eaters using Digital Waves. In other words...
KyokoControlling the Eater that's preying on Examon might allow for the control of Examon himself.
KyokoAllowing them to take control of such a vastly superior Digimon would be a terrible blow to our side.
KyokoYou must prevent this from happening if at all possible.
Chapter 16: Diver City - Isle of Dragons 13 6 lines
KyokoHmm... There are five Royal Knights left.
KyokoNo, it's fairly likely to be Crusadermon.
KyokoThe Royal Knights can't ignore Examon in his amok state. They're probably thinking of a way to use him.
KyokoNow is when we should seek the help of any Royal Knights we can persuade to be our allies.
KyokoGo with whatever plan you think will be best.
KyokoI will back you up from here at the agency. As a noncombatant, I would only hinder you otherwise.
Chapter 16: Diver City - Isle of Dragons 14 34 lines
KyokoAs I feared, Examon is a grievous threat.
KyokoIt's pointless to regret the past. There was nothing else you could have done.
KyokoBesides, all is not yet lost.
KyokoAfter analyzing Examon's movements, I found that after a period of activity, he must then always go into a resting state.
KyokoA massive Digital Wave must be needed to maintain the incredible amount of data Examon has.
KyokoSomething like it. And while he is this resting state, the Digital Wave fuels him, externally.
Kyoko...via a Digital Line.
KyokoI believe that, by continuing to supply the Digital Waves, she's controlling the partly-bugged Examon in much the same way as the Eaters.
KyokoIf that's the case, cutting off the Digital Wave supply ought to weaken Examon...
Kyoko...and release him from Crusadermon's control.
KyokoAll I can offer in return is some tasty coffee!
KyokoUnfortunately, there's no time for that now. Let's continue the discussion.
KyokoI traced back the flows of the Digital Waves...
KyokoThere is a place in Kowloon where the flows all overlap. I located this "Interchange."
KyokoThat is where the Digital Waves flow into the Digital Line. I'm guessing it's a control point.
KyokoThat is a distinct possibility.
KyokoHmm...
KyokoIt would be a better plan to wait for Omnimon and the others to recover from their battle with Examon while we gather intel in the meantime.
KyokoBut I can see that won't stop you.
KyokoI shouldn't doubt you. After all, you proved your skills quite well when you acted as Yuugo.
KyokoMoving forward, you will need great battle skills.
KyokoBut no one is expecting you to work alone. Player will accompany you. All right?
KyokoExcellent.
KyokoThe Interchange is at the back of Kowloon Lv. 5. It's a key location for our enemy, and our foe is none other than Crusadermon.
KyokoThere will undoubtedly be traps you will need to keep on alert for. Exercise all due caution.
KyokoShe's not angry. She's eager.
KyokoNow that she knows that Crusadermon killed her father, it's a reasonable reaction from her.
KyokoStill, in her state, she could easily allow herself to slip up. Player, keep a close eye on her for now.
KyokoHmm... There seems to be a misunderstanding. I think you need to relax, first and foremost.
KyokoHuh, should we maybe try that?
KyokoMy special herbal tea, featuring a blend of thirteen herbs that will help you relax.
KyokoI make some coffee with that tea in it, then add tofu, bananas and strawberries...
Kyoko...all of which have stress-reducing properties.
KyokoAh, perfect! I hope this works! Hee hee!
Chapter 16: Diver City - Isle of Dragons 15 15 lines
KyokoI see... Nice work.
KyokoYou might have stopped the Digital Wave supply to Examon, but given his sheer data volume, we're not liable to see a big effect right away.
KyokoFor now, we'll have to wait and see.
KyokoHmm... It seems as if Yuuko Kamishiro has changed somehow.
KyokoSomething happened?
KyokoOh-ho? You summoned her "Yuuko the Blackhearted" version?
KyokoPerhaps it's her doppelganger or something?
KyokoNo, if that was the case, she couldn't talk to us. Doppelgangers can't open their mouths.
KyokoThen my next guess would be bilocation. She created another copy of herself through force of will.
KyokoBut why? And to what end? Hmm... Fascinating.
KyokoOr it might also be an expression of her
"persona."
KyokoEveryone knows that she grew up wearing several different "masks."
KyokoThe daughter of a CEO, the leader of a hacker team, the unhappy girl growing up alone...
KyokoIt wouldn't be much of a stretch for her to use these abilities to serve her in the real world.
KyokoHmm... This has gotten interesting. This is how a mystery case should be, rife with riddles. Heehee!
Chapter 17: Recollection 9 19 lines
KyokoWell done.
KyokoBut to think you managed to take out a rampaging dragon even after it had been weakened...
KyokoIt ended up turning out just as I expected.
KyokoI'm one smart cookie!
KyokoExamon's activities may have halted, but Magnamon and the others are still monitoring it.
KyokoThere should be no cause for concern, but they're still keeping an eye on it just in case.
KyokoThis completes the bond between you and Digimon.
KyokoNot only have you successfully courted the Royal Knights to our cause, you've gotten past their misplaced trust and their delusions.
KyokoBe proud of who you are.
KyokoYes? What is it?
KyokoHmm... You're concerned about Arata Sanada? Actually, I suppose given how you think, you find the prospect exciting.
KyokoHis skills don't rival those of the Royal Knights, but he's approaching that level abnormally quickly.
KyokoBut someday, those powers of his might make him... No, he is perhaps already a threat to us.
KyokoBut I shall leave him to you.
KyokoPerhaps use your usual "crouching lunge" attack. Surely that will be the best strategy to employ.
KyokoLooks like we're about to reach the climax of this case.
KyokoThe only remaining Royal Knights who oppose us are Leopardmon and Crusadermon.
KyokoFinding where one of them lurks is a big step.
KyokoMake haste for Akihabara.
Chapter 18: Lost, Lost Memories 11 19 lines
KyokoIt would seem Player's gone.
KyokoExcept this time, it's a little different.
KyokoPlayer was caught up in a cunning trap by Crusadermon, it seems.
KyokoCrusadermon used whatever trickery she could to eliminate both you and Player.
KyokoIt seems Player took all due precautions. We're lucky we at least found Player's Digivice.
KyokoI analyzed preexisting log data to determine the location at which we lost my assistant.
KyokoIn a place we know.
KyokoThe last place registered in the log is the area that was used to demo the EDEN updates.
KyokoHmm... The Digital Wave strength is off the charts in that section. A Royal Knights hideout?
KyokoThat just shows how clever the trap was.
KyokoIt would probably be a waste to tell you not to worry, but anyway, acting is better than fretting.
KyokoWe're going to get Player back from Crusadermon!
KyokoHmm... Let's start with this Digivice...
KyokoI'm entrusting this to you, Nokia Shiramine.
KyokoBring the Digimon you met with Player and have them join in the rescue effort.
KyokoWe will most definitely need their assistance!
KyokoThe Digimon seem to trust you in particular. You should be able to draw out their power.
KyokoNot sure why you're flailing about, but please, find my assistant.
KyokoIt goes without saying that I'll be your backup.
Chapter 18: Lost, Lost Memories 13 2 lines
KyokoI've lost their signal as well...
KyokoThis marks the end of a long, long emptiness.
Chapter 19: Lion Knight of the Round 18 8 lines
KyokoNow's as good time as any. Let me explain. About how I've been sharing the memories of Kyoko Kuremi.
KyokoEight years ago, when the Digital World first fell prey to the Eaters, after the EDEN beta...
KyokoI discerned rather early on that the cause of the problem lay in another world, one in a neighboring dimension to our own.
KyokoIt was a different sort of "digital world," one created by humans.
KyokoAt the same time, in the human world, a detective named Kyoko Kuremi found out about EDEN Syndrome.
KyokoShe had been hired by Satoru Kamishiro to look into and expose illegal activity within his own company.
KyokoYes. And then she was contacted by a whistle- blower who wanted to meet with her in secret.
KyokoShe agreed, and went alone into cyberspace.
Chapter 19: Lion Knight of the Round 19 62 lines
KyokoBut she wasn't convinced it was a trap by Akemi Suedou until she learned he'd been researching the Eaters, which was only just recently.
KyokoShe probably went ahead with it out of respect for Satoru Kamishiro, in order to protect him from Kishibe's ambitions.
KyokoAnd the same time, "this" version of me...
Kyokofell prey to the Eaters, and entered EDEN through a gap in the wall between the dimensions.
KyokoBut that gap was small.
KyokoThe data mass had to be compressed to the level of a Digimon still in training.
KyokoIn that state, I could not engage in any serious activities. I needed some form of host vessel.
KyokoIt was then that I found the body of Kyoko Kuremi, who had lost her mental data.
KyokoI found that by replacing her mental data with my own, I could take over her body.
KyokoThat was how I was able to move about in the real world.
KyokoHowever, replacing someone else's mental functions naturally comes with major risks.
KyokoHuman bodies are complex. You have to synch the host and the memories to synch with the body.
KyokoThis might have resulted in degeneration for me, as a Digimon.
KyokoLooking back on it, I think I was destined to find this body... that of Kyoko Kuremi.
KyokoThere was a perfect synch between her sense of purpose and my duties, without any rejection.
KyokoI became Kyoko, and Kyoko became me.
KyokoAh, Crusadermon fell to this planet as I did, and must have synched with Rie Kishibe's body.
KyokoFrom your perspective there must be no difference between Crusadermon's actions and my own.
KyokoWe both ended up using another's body as a host.
KyokoPlayer... Had your body been available, I would have used it without hesitation.
KyokoDo you think less of me for that?
KyokoHeh! Just the answer I'd expect from you.
KyokoIt might be selfish to ask you to trust a Digimon you know nothing about, but...
KyokoI'd like to keep working together, as we have up until now. As one of the gang.
KyokoHmm... I see. So what you're saying is that my creations were lacking?
KyokoLet me redouble my efforts, then. Give me a chance to redeem myself!
KyokoI must bring my role to fruition. That is all.
KyokoAs for the incident eight years ago, you were all so young. There was nothing you could have done, was there?
KyokoWould it have been better not to have remembered?
KyokoHeh! Just the answer I'd expect from you two. And moreover...
KyokoIt's a very human answer.
KyokoBut she wasn't convinced it was a trap by Akemi Suedou until she learned he'd been researching the Eaters, which was only just recently.
KyokoHe probably did it out of respect for Satoru Kamishiro, in order to protect him from Kishibe's ambitions.

KyokoIt's a very human answer.
Chapter 19: Lion Knight of the Round 20 16 lines
KyokoThe first thing we have to do is to put a stop to Leopardmon's plans.
KyokoLeopardmon will reuse the Digital Line that was used in the Paradise Lost Plan.
KyokoHe is going to fuel it with a massive Digital Wave.
KyokoShould Leopardmon acquire enough energy to make a large enough hole in the Dimensional Wall...
Kyoko...he will Digivolve into a Digimon with power that far outstrips even that of Examon.
KyokoHmm. That's where I thought we could put a new spin on the Rescue of Yuuko Kamishiro Plan and put that into action.
KyokoLast time, we only stopped the Digital Wave flow.
KyokoTo better control Leopardmon, we need to steal the energy he's already absorbed, and weaken him.
KyokoWe'll make it possible. By making use of the skills of the hackers, and also the Tamers.
KyokoHere's the general idea...
KyokoWe set up hacking at each EDEN Spot, and change the structure of the Digital Line...
Kyoko...so that it doesn't emit Digital Waves anymore, but rather absorbs them.
KyokoThis role is for you to play, Nokia Shiramine!
KyokoOkay, I'm leaving it to you.. Player, Yuuko, and I will hit Leopardmon.
KyokoWe're just about at the tipping point. The showdown with Leopardmon.
KyokoHis fortress is the Tokyo Metropolitan Office in Roppongi.
Chapter 19: Lion Knight of the Round 22 7 lines
KyokoHowever, it was one of Rie Kishibe's traps.
KyokoShe burned with ambition to control Kamishiro, and went to Kyoko Kuremi, accusing Satoru Kamishiro himself of committing the crimes.
KyokoEven the evidence was brilliantly faked.
KyokoDonations to politicians, selling user data...
KyokoIt was just the sort of story that the media was going to have a field day over.
KyokoBut a trap even bigger than Rie Kishibe's was in the works, laid by someone else.
KyokoKyoko Kuremi was consumed by an Eater! She contracted EDEN Syndrome, as did Rie Kishibe.
Epilogue: See You Tomorrow! 3 8 lines
KyokoI was sick for a while, so my instincts are a bit rusty.
KyokoWhat an odd thing to drink...
KyokoWell, each to his own. It might be really good. Maybe I'll try it if I have the chance.
KyokoPardon the intrusion. I'll be on my way.
KyokoSorry if this seems a bit forward, but...
KyokoThat was some smooth reaction time you had. Are you used to this sort of thing?
KyokoI'm actually looking for an assistant right now.
KyokoWould you consider working with me?

Cases (22)

Cyber Sleuth 1 2 lines
KyokoYour job is to take a case and work on it until it's completely solved. I hope I can rely on you!
KyokoHow is the case going? I hope you manage to solve it. Good luck!
Cyber Sleuth 2 26 lines
KyokoAh, yes, a new case has just been submitted to the office, from a Digimon. I'd like you to take it.
KyokoThis case is a little tricky... It needs to be taken care of by a human.
KyokoI'm too much of a Digimon at heart, and so I have decided you should take care of it.
KyokoYou may chose to begin whenever you like. As always, check the white board and then I'll have the client come over for a meeting.
KyokoPlayer, sorry to interrupt, but...
KyokoI know it's sudden, but there's another case I'd like you to take.
KyokoIt seems someone has run out on a bill at a restaurant in Shibuya. The restaurant staff is asking for help in tracking down the perpetrator.
KyokoIt's been a while since we've had a case fit for a detective. Please handle this one as well.
KyokoOne of the restaurant staff has sent in an urgent request. In any case, please track down the perpetrator for her.
KyokoIt's been a while since we've had a case fit for a detective. Please take this one as well.
KyokoYet another case successfully solved!
Kyoko...Huh? Is it just my imagination or to you look a bit more mature? Well, when we have the time you can tell me all about it in detail.
Kyoko...Hmm, looks like we were able to meet the client's expectations on this one. You and Terriermon both matured a lot during this.
KyokoAh, yes, a new case has just been submitted to the office, from a Digimon. I'd like you to take it.

Hacker's Memory 1 HM 28 lines
KyokoHmm... He wants us to look for a part time job for him in EDEN... That's a pretty easy request.
Kyoko...All the same, I'd say it's a good case for you to handle as my assistant.
Kyoko...He'll accept a nice, well-paid part time job, and it's okay if it's a little shady...
KyokoLooking for a job like that here in Nakano shouldn't be too hard.
KyokoI'm sure if we quietly ask some of "those" kind of people here in Nakano we'll find something for him.
KyokoI've heard of cushy, shady jobs quite close to here.
KyokoAll the same, if he needs money urgently... I wonder what he needs it for?
KyokoAll the same, if he needs money urgently... I wonder what your friend wants the money for?
Kyoko...So, let me get this straight. You couldn't get a photo of the White Boy, so you decided to fake the picture?
KyokoEven so, this picture...
KyokoAn elementary school kid could have taken a better picture than this... In the end we will have to reject this case.
Kyoko...It doesn't matter. Sit down. I'm going to show you how to take a picture of a ghost properly...
KyokoTerror basically arises from the human imagination.
Kyoko"Anything looks like a face from the right angle." This is how you can stimulate a person's imagination with a photograph...
KyokoThat is the key technique in ghost photography.
KyokoSo, you just need to invoke the uniquely human phenomenon of pareidolia...
KyokoFor example, here, the perspective in this picture...
Kyoko...Hmm, looks like this camera took a photo...
KyokoBut...
Kyoko90% of ghost photos are fake... I never thought that this one would be part of the 10% that are real...
KyokoHuh? You?
KyokoHmm... I wonder, is there a connection between you and Ryota's actions?
KyokoI see, so that's why he needed the money...
KyokoSo he was doing his best to find a part time job to buy a present for a girl he was in love with... Hahaha...ah, young love!
Kyoko...Hey, are you okay? You have a blank expression on your face. It's like your mind is somewhere else...
KyokoHeeheehee...By any chance, is there someone else you are in love with?
Hacker's Memory 2 HM 22 lines
KyokoSo Player, how's the new body? Have you broken it in yet?
KyokoWhile you were out having fun, we got another request for the Cyber Sleuth.
KyokoIt's quite a big, complex case.
KyokoOnce you get back to the office, you can find the case on the white board.
KyokoPlayer I know it's out of the blue, but...
KyokoAre you hungry right now?
KyokoHahahaha... Kids your age are always hungry!
Kyoko...Actually, this case came from the Web. It's quite a strange one.
KyokoWe have a request from someone who ranks gourmet restaurants as a personal hobby.
KyokoShe would like you to go to Nakano and grade the gourmet restaurants there and report back to her.
KyokoThe fees and expenses have all been paid upfront. I decided it wasn't a risk, so I took it on.
Kyoko...I have decided to entrust this case to "you guys."
Kyoko...Yes, it's a present from me to all you hungry little kids.
KyokoPlease, try your best on this one.
KyokoActually, I wish I could accompany you, but I've decided to leave this up to your young stomachs.
KyokoEnjoy Nakano's finest gourmet restaurants!
Kyoko...Did you write the report, Player?
KyokoWow... I never thought you'd have such a talent for writing reports...
KyokoHe kept his true name hidden. I only know his Web handle, so I don't actually know...
KyokoAnd anyway, even if I knew, I have to keep that information confidential, so I couldn't say...
KyokoOh, no matter how talented an assistant you are, it's useless investigating something so pointless. Another case might come in.
KyokoYou must be ready to burst after all those restaurants. How about some coffee? We can try a new blend--Yuzukosho and sour cream!
Hacker's Memory 3 HM 1 lines
KyokoReiko has made a corner just for Etemon's CDs. You should definitely go and check it out when you have the time.
Hacker's Memory 4 HM 53 lines
Kyoko...Hmm, you just barely succeeded, then?
KyokoI haven't received any information as the assistant at this detective agency.
KyokoPlease get back to me with the information as soon as possible.
Kyoko...Well, anyway, you're not a police detective, so at times like this you should just do nothing.
KyokoAnyway, moving along, I need your help with something else.
KyokoI've put it on the whiteboard, you can take this one whenever you like. Come to the office when you're ready.
KyokoHuh? You didn't understand what I meant? I can't tell you here... That's pretty much a rule, you know.
KyokoIt seems that there is a criminal calling himself the "Mysterious Digital Face" has tipped the police off about his planned crimes.
KyokoHe told the Shinjuku Matagi (a cop who loves Shinjuku) that he was going to steal top secret police information.
KyokoThis is of course a situation for the police to deal with. They've put Detective Matayoshi of the cyber crime investigation unit in charge of this.
KyokoSuch dramatic incidents tend to hurt the pride of the police force...
KyokoIf the criminal manages to steal the data and gets away the blame will fall on Detective Matayoshi.
KyokoIf that's the case it will be a hard blow for us...
KyokoSo, I need you to help Matayoshi with his investigation covertly.
KyokoDo you understand what I mean by "covertly"?
Kyoko...Huh? You have a question?
KyokoPerhaps he was inspired by the "Multifaced Criminal" Ranpo Edogawa and got his name from that.
KyokoBack then, the mysterious man who inspired terror and madness in children...Kogorou Akechi was his name. His rival was a group of young detectives.
KyokoYou don't know about it because it was a bit before your time... Actually, even people in my generation are too young to know about it.
KyokoI had never heard that phrase before either. It's most likely a nickname of some sort.
KyokoAt the end of the day, it may be spelled
"Detective" but it reads "Cop." "Matagi" means
"bear hunter."
KyokoMatayoshi is not very good at this kind of thing, so I asked him privately if he needs some help...
KyokoDetective Matayoshi said "This is a matter of pride for myself and the force!" and refused...
KyokoBut I'm not going to let this go so easily, so I would like you to support him "covertly."
KyokoSo, please get to work as quickly as possible. ...Huh? You want to know what you should do?
KyokoThis is about stolen info from the police, so try going and asking groups of thugs on the street for information.
KyokoI'll try and find out what was said in that tip-off. You go to Kowloon and ask around.
KyokoThe cop-hating hacker is in Shinjuku...?
KyokoI just got the info on the tip-off warning. It brought me here to Shinjuku, too.
KyokoOne way or another it looks like our criminal is in Shinjuku... Go find him ASAP!
KyokoLooks like we've arrived in Shinjuku.
Kyoko...Huh? You met Matayoshi while you were asking around in Kowloon?
KyokoI see, you told him about the information on Shinjuku.
KyokoIf Detective Matayoshi solves the case by himself with that information, that'll be great.
KyokoJust to be sure, please continue your investigation in Shinjuku.
KyokoDid you catch the criminal? Okay, just bring the criminal straight to the station, and don't let Detective Matayoshi see you...
Kyoko...Huh?
KyokoHe wasn't a criminal, just shady?
KyokoI see... That's a pity...
KyokoThere's nothing to be done for it, we need to do the investigation again. Please come back here.
Kyoko...Right, so the Mysterious Digital Face was safely brought to justice?
KyokoYou've managed to preserve the honor of the police force and of Detective Matayoshi. Good job.
KyokoI suppose we should reconsider our low opinion of Detective Matayoshi now...
KyokoWe tried to support him covertly at first, but... We weren't able to find the criminal by ourselves...
KyokoHe is an elite detective... That gut instinct of his, that's one of the greatest gifts you can have...
KyokoStill...
KyokoThe "Shinjuku Matagi"...
Kyoko"Matagi" means a bear hunter, a person who can use the footprints and smell of a bear to track it down and move in for the kill.
KyokoOf course, it's the perfect nickname for Detective Matayoshi.
KyokoBear Hunter Detective... You will have to try your very best to earn a nickname like that.
KyokoI think the real "Multifaced Criminal" was sort of a fan of the police and PIs. He's probably the first ever hot-cold personality type.
Hacker's Memory 5 HM 6 lines
Kyoko"Bakuen Delete"...a comic about hackers having engaging in battles with each other...
KyokoIt's a comic for people like him who have a kind of sickness.
KyokoStill, a rare comic contest amongst friends...
KyokoStill...
KyokoI wonder why humans would bother putting so much energy into something so utterly fruitless...
KyokoThey really have a lot of time on their hands.
A Hacker’s Justice 1 HM 10 lines
Kyoko...He asked you to protect her?
KyokoAt first the case was just to hinder her activities, wasn't it? That boy is confused...
KyokoThat boy is confused...
KyokoFrom what I'm hearing from your story it sounds like his feelings for EDEN and sense of duty are just teenage angst...
KyokoWell, that's good.
Kyoko...Most people are not moved by mere words.
KyokoThe possible events of the future should propel you forward.
KyokoAnyway, the boy paid us our fee. Honest and proper, that.
KyokoHe may be a little confused, but he was raised right.
Kyoko...Actually, it's probably because he is so well raised that he is confused.
Hacker's Memory 6 HM 10 lines
KyokoAnd how was Miss Nokia Shiramine?
KyokoWell, she's not the kind of girl to give up easily.
KyokoAnyway, that's interesting about Agumon and Gabumon Digivolving...
KyokoI assume this will make the Rebel's activities even more intense than before...
KyokoAttention will now be paid to activities of hers that were previously ignored...
KyokoMaybe she will be able to change minds after all.
KyokoHuh? You don't know?
KyokoAny great historical figure who changes the world is inevitably not appreciated in their own time.
KyokoThey say there is a thin line between foolishness and genius. Perhaps they are right...
KyokoWell, this case was a success. Thanks for the effort you've put in.
Hacker's Memory 7 HM 59 lines
KyokoYour girlfriend will be getting out of hospital soon and you want to give her a present!?
Kyoko...Huh? Not yet? What on earth does that mean?
KyokoLook, if you want to give her a present, just give her whatever you want...
KyokoBut...you know you'll have to pay for this if it's an official case, right?
Kyoko...Well, I mean, she's just getting out of the hospital, that's all. Don't you think you're taking this a bit too far?
KyokoHeeheeheehee... It's a personal rule of mine not to take on a case unless I completely understand it.
KyokoBut, okay, I suppose I can make an exception, just for now...
Kyoko...Hmm, he's still working in ghost photography?
KyokoWell, I guess that's fine... So, we're looking for something a girl would like.
KyokoSorry, but I stopped thinking like a girl a long time ago, and you're too worldly, so that leaves us with a bit of a problem.
KyokoIn this situation, I'd say you should ask your feminine friends.
KyokoHmm, your feminine friends...
KyokoWhat about Arata? Maybe Yuuko? Nokia maybe?
KyokoWell, he's not really feminine, but if I had to say I'd say he seems like a kind of childish romantic to me...
KyokoWell... She's not really the type. She's naive and probably wouldn't care about what kind of present it was, I'd say.
KyokoPerfect! She's probably not really that kind of person, but at least she will try her best...or at least that's how she seems to me.
KyokoHmm, I think she's in Shinjuku right now...
KyokoGo and ask her for her opinion on girl's presents.
KyokoGo and ask Nokia Shiramine for her opinion on girl's presents.
KyokoA necklace...? Not bad...
KyokoI think anything over a thousand bucks would hurt a high school student's wallet a bit too much.
KyokoHmm...a romantic present...
KyokoI know I said I wouldn't ask too many questions, but I have one for you now...
KyokoYou know she's just getting out of the hospital. Why are you so concerned with getting her such an amazing present?
Kyoko"Tell her how you feel"? Hmm...and what exactly would that be?
KyokoLove? ...Love!? ...You like this Sakura girl?
KyokoI see...but, why do you like her?
KyokoOh... "I'm Ryota, I'm the only one who can protect you, Sakura!"
Kyoko"I'm the only one who can protect you Sakura!"
"I'm the only one who can protect you Sakura!"
KyokoHahaha... He really is such a self-conscious teenage boy...
KyokoBut he's an honest kid. We should definitely keep helping him.
KyokoWell, then...
KyokoHmm, a romantic present... I think you need to go looking for a romantic friend of yours and ask their opinion about this. What do you think?
KyokoSo, a romantic friend...
KyokoWell... I think she is more passionate than one would expect, but she's not the romantic type.
KyokoExactly... You wouldn't think so, but I'd say he's quite the romantic.
KyokoI think he is in Akihabara...
KyokoGo and ask him about a romantic present.
KyokoIt seems Arata Sanada is in Akihabara right now, so go and ask him what his opinion is on romantic presents.
KyokoWow... Going to a theme park, kissing under a starry sky... Just as I thought, he's quite the romantic.
KyokoWhat do you think? Should they enjoy a date at a theme park?
KyokoI just can't picture it, myself...
KyokoAlso, did you know that Juliet was only 14 years old when she stuck the dagger into her chest?
KyokoI know it's supposed to be set in ancient times, but I have never really liked how young the characters are in that story...
KyokoHmm... You sure do have a lot of conditions...
KyokoHmm... Actually, you have a good point there, but "simple but elegant" is a bit ambiguous.
Kyoko...It's the third time he's done that. I guess I should be used to it by now, but I don't get why he keeps leaving us to do all the work!
KyokoYeah, it looks like she's at Kamishiro right now...
KyokoPlease go and ask her about something "simple but elegant." She should be able to tell you something useful, anyway.
KyokoSo, something "simple but elegant"...
KyokoShe's not "simple," but there's only one friend of yours who I can think of who could give you that kind of advice...
KyokoHuh? Weren't you going to go and ask Yuuko Kamishiro about a "simple but elegant" present?
KyokoShe said that the time spent thinking about the best possible present was the true gift? Hmm, she has a point there...
KyokoDoes he really need to go off running and shouting like that...?
KyokoAnd where the hell is he going, anyway?
KyokoYouth is wasted on the young.
KyokoSo full of youthful vigor...
Hacker's Memory 11 HM 23 lines
KyokoAre you okay now? What are you doing? Where are you?
Kyoko...What? A living legend? An immortal hacker raised from the dead? Hmm...these rumors about Yuugo are really starting to get out of hand...
KyokoOf course, I'm sure you're not foolish enough to believe any of them...
Kyoko...Anyway, we have a new case from the legendary man himself, so please come back to the office.
KyokoYuuko said she is waiting in her brother's hospital room.
KyokoShe sounded quite worried. I think it's probably something serious.
KyokoYuuko has contacted me to tell me the case has changed.
KyokoFirst it's the rumors that got out of hand, now it's the avatar...
KyokoI tried looking for it, but Yuugo's account has a thick firewall, and I couldn't access it from outside...
KyokoIt looks like we'll have to search on foot...
KyokoPlease go and ask around about Yuugo's whereabouts in Kowloon.
KyokoStill...
KyokoI don't know who it is, but anyone capable of hacking into an account with a firewall that thick must be a genius hacker!
KyokoYuuko thought the cakes were so delicious she just kept eating and eating, until the manager ended up crying.
KyokoShe was late contacting me, so I was worried, and then that was what she had to say in the end...
KyokoI know we normally work a case to the end and provide the client with support afterwards, but... Maybe we should pass on it this time...
KyokoHowever, I have seen many instances of accounts being stolen by Digimon.
KyokoFor a human-like AI to start stealing accounts like that...
KyokoWhen it comes to programming, an AI and a Digimon are basically the same...
KyokoI seems that more and more strange things are happening in cyberspace.
KyokoEven you could be referred to as "strange," don't you think?
Kyoko...Indeed.
KyokoYou nod and say "Uh-huh" just like everyone else, but...
Hacker's Memory 12 HM 185 lines
KyokoA new job has come in. Please come back to the office.
KyokoPlease come back right away.
KyokoI'll explain all the details.
KyokoThe client this time is the local government that takes care of the utilities for Nakano... Basically, it's a bureaucratic agency.
KyokoWhy are you so shocked?
KyokoOf course, we specialize in the supernatural and complex cyber crimes, so we usually have a very specific clientele.
KyokoBut we cooperated very well with Detective Matayoshi's police force, so they consider us to be a pretty good detective agency.
KyokoSo we've received a case from a public agency... Quite a rare event.
KyokoThis case was originally discussed by Detective Matayoshi with the government agency.
KyokoIt's a bit special, so Detective Matayoshi passed us down to the government agency like a sort of ace up his sleeve, and now it's our case.
KyokoGot it?
KyokoGood.
KyokoThe case is to unlock a gate in Nakano Underpass. It seems the gate is locked due to some electronic glitch and can't be opened.
KyokoHuh? What, you don't know about Nakano Underpass?
KyokoIt's a facility that houses the equipment used to provide Nakano's public utilities, such as power cables, water pipes, and so on...
KyokoThey are moving forward with a plan to improve the look of the city center above ground by housing the public utilities underground.
KyokoLooks like the visible power cables and telephone poles are set to disappear in the not-too-distant future.
KyokoUnderneath Nakano there is a vast complex of tunnels, so there are of course many entrances.
KyokoOne of these entrances is the place where the gate we need to unlock is.
KyokoIt is a password-protected electronic lock, but it seems some time ago it locked for no reason, and no one has been able to open it since.
KyokoThey contacted the manufacturer, but they gave up. If needs be they will destroy the gate, but obviously that would incur serious costs.
KyokoWhile the costs were discussed, a weird groaning sound was heard coming from the other side of the gate. It seems something strange is going on.
KyokoThe manufacturer had a bad feeling about it and didn't want to open the gate, but the government suspected criminal activity and called Matayoshi.
KyokoWell after all, we have the best people for the job if you want to access a place that is off bounds to most.
KyokoThis is actually a good opportunity. I've been wanting to investigate the rumors surrounding Nakano's underground system for a while.
KyokoThe gate in question has an electronic lock, so naturally there's a cyberspace inside it.
KyokoYou're the only one who can break into the gate without destroying it.
KyokoWe've already received permission from the government to access the underpass.
KyokoAll right then, shall we go and find out what the real situation with this underground gate is?
KyokoWhere is that groaning voice coming from? What kind of strange world lies beyond the gate? This is gonna be so much fun!
KyokoHuh? It's an underground gateway, so there will just be an underground tunnel behind it, right?
KyokoHeehee, have you ever heard of the Stochastic process in quantum mechanics? I guess I should tell you about Schrodinger's cat.
KyokoUntil we open up the gate, we cannot know if we will find an underground tunnel or the void of space.
KyokoUntil you open that gate, the world is in a flux of overlapping possibilities...so just try to enjoy it.
KyokoLet's go. The case is a simple matter of unlocking the gate, but...
KyokoWhat's behind the gate? Your job is to find that out.
KyokoWhen you leave the Nakano building, head straight to the entrance to the Nakano Underpass.
KyokoMaybe you will see the gate in question on the way. Anyway, go to the entrance first.
KyokoDid you arrive at the underpass? The gate we need to unlock is inside.
KyokoThe control panel should be beside you. Do you see it? Connect Jump into it and unlock the gate.
KyokoWhat happened?
Kyoko...What? Connect Jump isn't working? That's strange...
KyokoIt's an electronic lock, so there should be some kind of network inside it...
KyokoPerhaps it's just that you didn't activate the Connect Jump properly?
KyokoRaise your hand...
KyokoNow, concentrate...
KyokoThat's it.
Kyoko...What were you doing just now?
KyokoWhatever you're doing, it seems like it's not working.
KyokoRight, I think it's time I verified your ability to perform a Connect Jump.
KyokoOh no! It looks like I can't verify it!
KyokoWell, it seems that you can only Connect Jump if you feel disappointed.
KyokoIf I were to posit a theory as to how your Connect Jump works...
KyokoYour ability locates a Digital Wave, piggybacks on it to the target location's Digital Space, and then enters it.
KyokoIt can be a network, a PC server...
KyokoIt doesn't matter what the target location is. If it has a Digital Space then you should be able to access it.
Kyoko...However, there seem to be certain limitations when interfering with the Digital Wave.
KyokoIn other words when you can, you can, and when you can't, you can't.
KyokoWhat we've determined is that you connected before by chance, even if there are specific reasons why you were able to each time.
KyokoPut simply, cause and effect are connected to the Digital Waves.
KyokoWait a second? How could you Connect Jump this time, then? I don't have any proof to support my answer, but...
KyokoPerhaps there were others like you who tried and failed to open the lock and were disappointed?
KyokoYes, "disappointment" is definitely key...
KyokoI've rambled on long enough... Please get this lock opened as quickly as you can.
KyokoIt seems you've managed to unlock the gate, so thanks for that. It must have been easy for you, given your skill.
KyokoWhat? There's a bit of a labyrinth in the underground tunnel?
KyokoWhat to you mean by "a bit"? ...Is there any sign of a Digimon or an Eater in there?
KyokoI see... It is strange to see just a small section of labyrinth...
KyokoHehe... I know I said we couldn't know what we would find, but I wasn't expecting that...
Kyoko...I believe we have witnessed a special Digital Wave occurrence.
KyokoIt's as if it's some kind of current...
KyokoAlright then, please go and find out where the wave is going.
Kyoko...I see. This is definitely a "ley line."
KyokoHave you ever heard of "ley lines" before? There are many in Tokyo... They are also called "dragon chains."
Kyoko"Dragon" signifies the undulating landscape, the hills and mountains. The "dragon chain" is what we call the flow of the land's "spirit."
KyokoIt's well known that Sousei Tenkai, advisor to Ieyasu Tokugawa, turned Edo into a great feng shui city.
KyokoIt is said that he built a waterway and path to lead the chi from Mount Fuji and Tokyo Bay to Edo Castle.
KyokoThat's important because in feng shui, the position and orientation of things are critical for reaching maximum harmony and prosperity.
KyokoOf particular note in this instance are Kan'ei-ji and Asakusa Shrine to the NE and Zojo-ji and Hie Shrine to the SW, all big religious institutions.
KyokoIn feng shui, those directions are thought to draw negative energy their way. The shrines hold big festivals to purge and expel that energy.
KyokoAnd if you look at the lines that connect Buddhist temples Kan'ei-ji and Zojo-ji, and Shinto shrines Asakusa and Hie...
KyokoYou'll find they cross right inside old Edo Castle, home to today's Tokyo Imperial Palace. It's really quite fascinating to see, heehee...
KyokoNowadays the waterways have been swapped out for rail lines, and radio towers dot the NE and SW. You could say we've finished what Tenkai started.
KyokoViewed from the eyes of current society, those rail lines and radio towers are artificial ley lines that supplement the old roads and waterways.
KyokoNaturally, where you're standing underground constitutes another ley line running through Tokyo, too.
KyokoNot just any ley line, either. The one that's believed to emanate from Mount Fuji is supposed to run right through there.
KyokoThe manmade tunnel layered on top of it allows the Digital Waves to keep flowing in perpetuity. It's really a peculiar thing going on down there.
KyokoThat's what's producing this quasi-labyrinth you're seeing before you.
KyokoKnowing that, those weird voices that people are supposedly hearing probably belong to Digimon that are appearing as a result.
KyokoI could go on for a while yet about this subject, but you at least somewhat get what I'm saying, right?
KyokoAhaha, I'll take that to mean you understood it well enough, then.
KyokoAt this point, your work is essentially done, but...we can't exactly just ignore this newfound discovery of yours, either.
KyokoWhy don't you go a little further in and check things out for me?
KyokoHold on... I'm getting readings showing that tunnel has become a labyrinth. It's not as severe as what we're used to, but it's still worrying.
KyokoHow do things look on your end? Any signs of Eaters or Digimon hanging around there?
KyokoHuh. All right then...
KyokoFrom what I'm seeing here, there are unusual Digital Waves running through the area...
KyokoIt's weird, though. It's like they're flowing in a specific direction... Wait, I get it!
KyokoHave you ever heard of "ley lines" before? There are many in Tokyo... They are also called "dragon chains."
KyokoEssentially, ley lines are straight geographic lines that are believed to align sites of major historical significance with each other on a map.
KyokoTokyo is a mystical example. After Tokugawa Ieyasu became shogun in 1603, Tenkai, a monk he retained, had parts of the city made according to feng shui.
KyokoThat work involved having things like major roads and waterways point to the central Edo Castle using ley lines stemming from Mt. Fuji.
KyokoThat's important because in feng shui, the position and orientation of things are critical for reaching maximum harmony and prosperity.
KyokoOf particular note in this instance are Kan'ei-ji and Asakusa Shrine to the NE, and Zojo-ji and Hie Shrine to the SW, all big religious institutions.
KyokoIn feng shui, these directions are thought to draw negative energy their way.
KyokoNowadays, the waterways have been swapped out for rail lines and radio towers dot the NE and SW. You could say we've finished what Tenkai started.
KyokoViewed from the eyes of current society, those rail lines and radio towers are artificial ley lines that supplement the old roads and waterways.
KyokoNaturally, where you're standing underground here in Nakano constitutes another ley line running through Tokyo, too.
KyokoI'm probably rambling at this point. Did you follow all of that? I know it's complicated.
KyokoWell, I guess I'll call it good enough. You seem to have your own, ah, unique way of processing information, I suppose.
KyokoSince you're there already, now's as good a time as any to look into the flow of those Digital Waves, so keep moving ahead for now.
KyokoThe tunnel just keeps on going, you say?
KyokoIf it stays on course like that, you're going to end up in Roppongi, which would mean... Hmm...
KyokoYou know, this reminds me of something else I've heard about before.
KyokoAs I mentioned before, Tokyo's ley lines stem from Mt. Fuji, which is of course not all that a coincidence given that it's a sacred place.
KyokoAnd that energy takes old highways like the Koshu Kaido and the Tokaido to get to Tokyo from Mt. Fuji.
KyokoThat energy joins up with underground waterways going along the highways that carry Mt. Fuji's snowmelt to Tokyo, flowing into the city together.
KyokoOne theory holds that the first place where that water appears above ground after reaching Tokyo happens to be where else but Nakano.
KyokoPut simply, all the ley lines that flow throughout Tokyo could well be coming out of our own stomping grounds, believe it or not.
KyokoWouldn't that be amazing to think about if it turned out to be true?
KyokoStop right there! Don't go any farther.
KyokoYou're standing at the border of the municipality. Go any farther and you'll be in central government territory. That's a hive we'd best not poke.
KyokoColor me intrigued, though. That's a hell of a thing to stumble into just walking around inside that tunnel.
KyokoYou come in just trying to fix a door and come out the other side inside the eye of a veritable hurricane.
KyokoWe aren't prepared just yet to pick that sort of fight. There's still too much we don't know.
KyokoThis little tangent of ours has gone on long enough, I think. Head back the way you came and regroup at the office.
KyokoThough it's not as strong as we're used to, that tunnel is causing a Digital Shift. We should probably keep it locked up like before after all.
KyokoI have no idea how I'm going to explain all of this to our client...
KyokoNo matter how you spin it, it'll probably all be a lot to take in. I wouldn't be surprised if we come away looking even sketchier than we already do.
Kyoko...Eh, let's just let Detective Matayoshi deal with it. Some jobs are just best left to others.
KyokoThat makes two of us, believe me. Actually, while you were on your way back, I decided to look into it a little bit.
KyokoApparently what you found was a Kamishiro research lab, of all things.
KyokoOh, don't be dense. I told you, that area is under the jurisdiction of the central government. That's not the sort of place you wander into for fun.
KyokoIf nothing else, it indicates that Kamishiro and the government have a tighter relationship than what we previously suspected.
KyokoGoing after Kamishiro could well mean that we'd also be ruffling the government's feathers.
KyokoThat's why we can't be hasty right now. We'll do what we can to prepare and cross that bridge when we come to it.
KyokoThis is just a guess on my end, but I imagine it was Kamishiro that changed the password on that door and rendered it impossible to get open.
KyokoThey probably weren't counting on us being able to actually break in and snoop around.
KyokoKnowing that, it could well serve as our ace in hole later when the time does come to confront them, hopefully unawares.
KyokoBut again, let's not worry about hashing out the details until we have to and just be grateful we have that up our sleeve if need be.
KyokoOn that note, I realize this case is technically closed, but what do you say about heading over to Roppongi for me one more time?
KyokoI don't mean on official business. Rather, I'm keen on doing a little independent intelligence gathering for our own internal use.
KyokoSurely you're interested in knowing why Kamishiro has built a research lab underneath the Metropolitan Office, too, right?
KyokoSo how about you just walk on through the front door there and see what you can find? Sound good?
KyokoI feel bad making you work again as soon as you're back, but if you'd visit the Tokyo Metropolitan Office, that'd be a big help. Thanks!
KyokoDid you make it inside the Metropolitan Office?
Kyoko...All right, I get you. So they're all right with you hanging around the lobby. Well, that makes our work a little easier, then. Go on in.
KyokoAll you need at this point is a terminal somewhere so you can infiltrate their systems. Piece of cake at this stage, I'd say.
KyokoSo once you find a terminal, just slip on in and work your magic like always.
KyokoWish I was there to see it myself. Seems like quite the sight... It reminds me of the Tower of Babel in a way.
KyokoHeh, guess I'm starting to ramble again, though. Don't worry about me. Feel free to get back to work now.
KyokoIs something wrong out there? ...Oh? You found a terminal that's Digital Shifting a little?
KyokoHuh. If this Shift is weak while still prominent enough for you to notice it, it could be a sign this place will turn into a labyrinth later on.
KyokoWell, for now, try Connect Jumping into it. We have no idea what could be inside there, so stay on your feet, all right?
KyokoHmm... So you found an Eater inside there after all.
KyokoBut you couldn't find any other evidence of note? Heehee, you're not seeing the forest for the trees here, Player!
KyokoThe fact that there was an Eater inside the terminal at all is big evidence in and of itself!
KyokoRegardless, let's call it a day here. Get on back to the office now.
KyokoThat was probably hard work going all over the place today. But thanks to you, I think I'm starting to piece it all together now.
KyokoWhile you were out and about, I decided to measure the Digital Waves coming out of that building.
KyokoAnd I found out that the Metropolitan Office itself is one big Digital Wave force field.
KyokoFrom what I can tell, energy is flowing straight into the Metropolitan Office via the ley line inside Nakano Underpass.
KyokoSo that underground lab Kamishiro has beneath the building is probably controlling the energy flow.
KyokoYou remember what I said about ley lines when you were inside that tunnel, don't you?
KyokoThere are two things at play here: the natural energy flow from the earth along the ley lines and Digital Waves emanating from a sea of electrons.
KyokoIf you can make a massive structure like the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office a hub for those things, then you can manipulate their flow.
KyokoWhy do they need to do it that way? Well, for one, Digital Waves might be invisible to the naked eye, but they have mass and therefore require a vessel.
KyokoAnd the bigger the vessel is that contains those waves, the more energy you can build up.
KyokoIt probably also explains the new construction going on, as more space would mean that much more energy Kamishiro could stockpile.
KyokoThat extra energy would then go on to impact the office beyond the facility, hence the Digital Shift you ran into in the lobby.
KyokoAnd with any good Digital Shift comes an Eater, of course... Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if that place goes labyrinthine eventually.
KyokoBut we don't have to be concerned about that threat anymore now that you've cleaned the joint up.
KyokoOn the other hand, it's worrying in its own way that things resolved so cleanly this time.
KyokoThe fact that Digital Waves can be concentrated in such small qualities as to attract individual Eaters and produce a micro-labyrinth is scary.
KyokoIf you hadn't been there, it might well not have been caught until much later. The whole thing doesn't sit well with me at all.
KyokoThis case has taught us that there's technology that can mostly suppress large amounts of Digital Waves as they're built up and placed wherever.
KyokoThe deliberate and calculated nature of it all indicates that somebody's got big plans in the works, suffice it to say.
KyokoThis, of course, calls for more investigating. We need to figure out how long this has all been going on, and just what exactly it's for.
KyokoLet's keep our eyes peeled as we move forward, Player. We're onto something here, I know it.
Hacker's Memory 14 HM 12 lines
KyokoHey, it's me. We've got a new case I think you'll love for sure.
KyokoAs for details...heehee, come back and we'll talk.
KyokoHeh, it's amazing the sheer variety of clients we attract these days. Taking on this case can only mean more exposure...and more clients!
KyokoSo I say we'd better take Tentomon up on this little proposition and see where it takes us.
KyokoTentomon's a real sweetheart for wanting to organize this festival. These have been hard times for most everyone, especially you.
KyokoThe festival's going on at the Ueno Museum. I know it's technically for work, but make sure to enjoy yourself, too. You deserve it.
KyokoOh? So once they finally caught you, they made you keep fighting until you beat the so-called "Dark Lord," huh?
KyokoAnd the festival also had other things like trivia and eating contests? Wow, that sounds like a good time. It must have been really lively there!
KyokoI bet you made the Digimon there really happy. And I bet it's done wonders for your mood as well, no?
KyokoHuh? Why were you picked to be the hero rather than Nokia? Heehee, beats me. Even I can't know everything.
KyokoYou know, there's an old quote I heard once that sums it up well. Something like "Every hero needs a pair of goggles." It's a universal truth...
KyokoSo how does it feel being a big hero, then? Just don't let it go to your head because there's still plenty of work left for you to do, heehee.
Hacker's Memory 15 HM 12 lines
KyokoOoooh, a case with that girl from the Parallel World. If that's not a sign you've come a long way as a detective, I don't know what is.
KyokoSo what did you two talk about? What does she want from you?
Kyoko...Huh, she wants you to go back to a "memorable spot" you two share? I don't really know what she could be referring to myself, but...
KyokoAt the very least, when it comes to stuff like the Parallel World, nobody's more of an expert than our one and only Mirei.
KyokoGo visit her and see if she has any advice for you on how best to approach this.
KyokoA "memorable spot," huh? Hmm... I bet if you talked to Mirei, you might get some clues about what you should do.
KyokoAh, so she was after a fight with you to see which of you is stronger.
KyokoHmm... You know, deep down, I bet she's worried about how our own world is doing these days and was looking for her own way to express that.
KyokoMaybe she wanted to test you to see if you were up to the job of helping keep this place in one piece.
KyokoHeh, I might be a little biased here given the present company, but you kids have really turned out to be quite something.
KyokoThat being said, I agree with her thoughts on trying to find a reason for everything. I'm not too fond of dwelling on such stuff, either.
KyokoThe world's just too full of things that can't be solved with pure reason to value it too highly in my book, heehee.
Hacker's Memory 16 HM 68 lines
KyokoMe again. I've got a new case for you. Why don't you drop on by so we can talk?
KyokoFrom what I gather, the air conditioning inside Nakano Broadway is on the fritz.
KyokoIt just keeps pumping in cold air constantly and nobody can switch the heating on.
KyokoThing is, nobody can find anything wrong with it and the businesses are lost about what to do.
KyokoThat's where we come in.
KyokoPeople aren't getting much work done, so I told them to leave it to us!
KyokoIf we can get to the bottom of this mess, I'm sure they'll just love us forever for it!
KyokoHuh? You keep getting transmissions from someone? Hmm... Well, isn't she a cutie.
KyokoThe white noise in this is really bad. I can't make out what she's saying. Where's this coming--
KyokoDamn, it cut out.
KyokoWhat? You're saying the same transmission came in where it was cold? Hmm... We might be closing in on the cause.
KyokoIf so, our next step is to resolve this thing, plain and simple.
KyokoI'm going to see if I can figure out the signal's origin. You ask around about the air conditioning.
KyokoI've figured out where that signal came from, so get back to the office when you can, all right?
KyokoNice work with your investigation. Now what have you got to report?
KyokoHmm... this is the first I've heard of that computer room. But with that info, it's all starting to click for me now.
KyokoLike I mentioned before, I've figured out who the girl in those transmissions is.
KyokoHer name's Fuyume Yuki. She was a breakout idol from a few decades back.
KyokoWhat we've been seeing...the avatar on the screen is her when she was in her prime as an idol.
KyokoSomebody is therefore using a terminal inside Nakano Broadway and broadcasting her likeness.
KyokoAnd the signal...seems to be coming from the
4th floor.
KyokoLooking at the map, it's right inside a wall at K-Cafe.
KyokoThe whole thing has played out like a horror story, hasn't it? A long lost idol relaying her message from inside a wall...
KyokoBut with your report, it's all coming together now.
KyokoWe've uncovered a piece of Nakano Broadway history that not even the owner of K-Cafe as the go-to historian could claim to know.
KyokoBut enough talk. It's time to head back to K-Cafe. I'll be coming along for this one, too.
KyokoHeh, the Snow Woman. The MO sure does fit with that folktale, though. Even the idol's name, Fuyume Yuki, means "Winter Snow Woman."
KyokoSnow Woman herself shows up in a lot of stories from regions with cold climates. Definitely the first time she's taken form as an old 80s idol.
KyokoBut it's pretty fitting for Nakano Broadway, all things considered, heehee.
KyokoStill, if we don't act quickly, she's going to damage this place's reputation, so let's get a move on already.
KyokoThis is it... The transmission should be coming from the other side from here.
KyokoHere's the underground boiler room... But it's weird, it's unusually cold even for a basement.
KyokoHmm... The transmission should be coming from across the other side here.
KyokoYet there's no door and there are no signs of the wall being tampered with... What's going on here...?
KyokoAnother transmission... That just about confirms we're in the right spot, then.
KyokoI don't... I don't like the looks of this.
KyokoIt's like...she's noticed us trying to meddle with her...and now it's even colder!
Kyoko...!
KyokoOh, did you find something?
KyokoI see... So there's an entry point into cyberspace inside that wall.
KyokoDon't worry about me, you go on ahead and get in there!
KyokoYou're probably less...affected by her tricks thanks to your unique body.
KyokoHey, it's finally stopped blowing cold air here. Great job! You did so much, you must be tired.
KyokoIt would have been a real sad state of affairs if we'd somehow managed to freeze to death here in Tokyo, of all places.
KyokoBut now we don't have to worry about it thanks to you!
KyokoHmm? You found a cat Digimon with amnesia?
KyokoWell, you solve one mystery, only to stumble into another, it seems. Come back here and we'll look into it.
KyokoAn amnesiac Digimon, huh...? Every time I think I've seen everything, I get proven wrong yet again.
KyokoI take it those transmissions with Fuyume Yuki were your doing, then?
KyokoThen that means that vacuum tube computer was really there behind the wall, this whole time...
KyokoIntranet...? You must mean networking lines that only operate inside Nakano Broadway.
KyokoI see. It all makes sense now. That must have been why nobody could find anything wrong with the system when they checked it.
KyokoHow awful... I had no idea.
KyokoIt's hard to believe such an old computer was even still operational to begin with, too...
KyokoBut its existence is probably a remnant of the centralized AC system the K-Cafe owner mentioned before.
KyokoThe wiring must have been hooked up pretty poorly for Frigimon to be able to wreak such havoc, then...
KyokoAnd therein lies the root of how this all managed to happen.
KyokoI imagine even our conversation right now must be going through that intranet, as well.
KyokoBy the way, is there a reason why you...chose to appear as an idol in those transmissions?
Kyoko...Um?
KyokoI think I get what's going on here... It looks like we've uncovered a decades-old time capsule.
KyokoYour memories aren't just raw bits of information. They're more than that. They have a certain... humanity to them, let's say.
KyokoI bet you're somebody's old "memories," stashed away along with that vacuum tube computer you've been living in. That's what time capsules are for.
KyokoBut, memories or not, that doesn't make you any less empathetic a creature to encounter...
KyokoEither way, this case is wrapped up now. We'll look into what's up with this cat Digimon later.
KyokoTruly, there's no other place quite like Nakano...
KyokoI've done all I can here. The rest is up to you. If you can, I'd appreciate it if you sorted it out before we all catch a cold, or worse.
KyokoWhere are you going? The signal's coming from over here, you know. Come check out this sketchy paneling first.
Hacker's Memory 17 HM 46 lines
KyokoSo you're the president of the Inoden Occult Research Club, correct?
KyokoAll right, what have you got for us today?
KyokoOho, I like the sound of that. It's not something we get around here every day.
KyokoAnyway, what legend do you have in mind?
KyokoWhat...? Do their wishes come true or something?
KyokoHuh, can't say I've heard that one before. Reminds me of some old Shinto stories.
KyokoI can see what makes the legend so appealing, though. You have to make it to the center through that constant crowd, all while singing...
KyokoPulling it off sounds like no mean feat.
KyokoRumors? Like what?
KyokoJeez, I know we work in the shadows here and all, but to think we're so infamous as to be having people make up urban legends about us... Wow.
KyokoWait, what? Hunting down ghosts and... Where do people even come up with this stuff? Now you've really got me curious...
KyokoDon't worry about it. We'll take up your case. We need a little time to get ready, so could you wait for us elsewhere here in the building?
KyokoLooks like we've got another weird case on our hands...
KyokoBut a case is a case. What are you going to do? I'm going to start preparing for our Shibuya Hirasaka experiment.
KyokoWhy don't you go talk with the other club members and learn more about the legend?
KyokoThey should all be inside the building here. Talk with them and see what you can find.
KyokoAll right, I've got everything all set up. Get all of the club members together and take them over to Shibuya.
KyokoI'll be giving commands from here. Meanwhile, I want you to join in and help perform Shibuya Hirasaka as one of the five people.
KyokoCan everyone hear me? We're now going to commence verifying the legend of Shibuya Hirasaka.
KyokoI've hacked into the cameras at the Scramble Intersection. I'll be watching you all from here and giving you commands as necessary.
KyokoKeep your eyes and ears peeled and be ready for anything. Now, let's get started.
KyokoYou're doing great, keep up that pace. Lily, I need you to speed up a little more.
KyokoGood, good. You're all about reach the Scramble Crossing. The traffic lights should cooperate, too.
KyokoThat being said, just in case, I...went in and rigged it to work in our favor, too. So just go ahead and cross.
KyokoWell... How'd it go?
KyokoAre you all right? What happened? Fill me in.
KyokoWe owe Detective Matayoshi a lot for helping out again. Not only did he restore calm, but he also took the truck driver in for questioning.
KyokoApparently, that driver didn't see any of you until right before you all were nearly hit.
KyokoBut here's where it gets strange. The crowd in the intersection saw you all the whole time, but nobody responded to their warnings.
KyokoIt's like you guys couldn't see or hear anything that was going on around you.
KyokoAnd would this girl happen to be that high school student you saw there?
KyokoI see... Well, that settles it.
KyokoShe was a high school girl who was killed three months ago in an accident at the Scrambled Crossing Intersection.
KyokoYep. She was even hit by a truck.
KyokoHmph. So what you five saw back there was the dead brought back to life, then.
KyokoI did a little research. Shibuya today is a valley that was cut off from Shibuya River, which itself now runs under the Scramble Intersection.
KyokoRivers are a common border in myths and religions between this world and the next. There's the Sanzu River in Japan, the River Styx in Greece...
KyokoI'd say you guys got caught up in one such place today. There are a lot of names you can call it, but the end result remains the same.
KyokoAnyway, this case is closed. We set out to prove Shibuya Hirasaka is real and we did.
KyokoLeave that girl alone? Is that what you want to ask? Hm, you may be confused about our role.
KyokoDon't forget, we're not "ghost hunters," and we're not "exorcists." That's not what we do.
KyokoWe're "Cyber Sleuths." No more and no less. I would appreciate it if you remember that from now on.
KyokoStay safe on your way home. Don't get into any accidents for real now.
KyokoWhew, well, that case is over and done with for now, although I know you didn't get a chance to really use your powers.
KyokoBut I figure if you had used them in front of those kids, that would have just spawned another urban legend, heehee...
Hacker's Memory 18 HM 59 lines
KyokoA case came in from Detective Matayoshi. Hurry up and come--
KyokoWhat? You felt something ominous in the air just now? Since when have you been so superstitious?
KyokoIt's probably nothing. Just get back here so we can get to work already.
KyokoI see where this is going... All right, we'll check it out for you.
KyokoI've hacked into... I mean, I've, uh, "politely borrowed" access to a security camera in Shinjuku so we can check out what it's been recording.
KyokoDoesn't look like I can find any of the actual crime scenes... Though I'd wager that you've already checked on this much yourself.
KyokoOh, heehee, I just found something interesting. Here's my trusty assistant from just a little while ago. Let's take a look.
KyokoHmm... We just might have a real live "Kamaitachi" on our hands here.
KyokoYou've probably heard about them before from folktales, right?
KyokoKamaitachi are weasel spirits with claws as sharp as a sickle.
KyokoTo hear the stories tell it, they attack people by appearing inside a sudden whirlwind, cutting their victim's skin sharply in its wake.
KyokoWhat probably really happens is that when people's skin gets really dry, it can get cut up by small rocks blowing in the wind...or so we thought.
KyokoLooking at this footage, I think it's safe to say that's no ordinary gust of wind.
KyokoKnowing that, there well could be an actual kamaitachi on the loose in Shinjuku. Hrm...
KyokoOr maybe something else entirely... Who knows? But that light definitely skimmed really close to your head there in that footage.
KyokoIf you hadn't felt anything "ominous" back there, we might have seen your head pop off your shoulders.
KyokoHeh... Better stay sharp. You can only stay lucky for so long, you know.
KyokoHead back to Shinjuku and investigate the surrounding area. Detective Matayoshi and I will stay here to analyze the footage some more.
KyokoThat flash of light showed up in Shinjuku. Go back there and investigate the vicinity for us.
KyokoYou found a burnt spot, you say...? Hmm... Anything else of note you found there?
KyokoWhat's wrong? Does something feel off again?
KyokoA flash of sunlight reflected off a window and blinded you? Hmm...
KyokoHey, it's me. I've figured out what's going on.
KyokoThe culprit, whoever they are, is using reflections to their advantage.
KyokoHave you ever heard of the Walkie-Talkie building? It's a super tall skyscraper in London that was at the center of a really bizarre incident.
KyokoBasically, there were cars parked nearby it that mysteriously had parts of them melted and warped.
KyokoThe cause of it was the building's windows. The panes were installed in such a way they reflected a sunbeam potent enough to damage the cars.
KyokoIn this instance, though, we're not dealing with sun rays.
KyokoJudging from the flash of light and those burn marks you've found, we're probably dealing with lasers here.
KyokoBut this isn't your ordinary laser pointer we're talking about. Only weapons-grade lasers could leave such deep burns.
KyokoThe question is how someone managed to set them up all around Shinjuku and fire them off without people spotting them...
KyokoThere hasn't been any big power surge in the area... Could there be batteries...? No, wait... The Digital Wave readings are fluctuating weirdly.
KyokoDon't tell me they're using the Digital Waves as a substitute for microwaves in an impromptu
"maser"...?
KyokoIf that's the case, then...
KyokoHey, think you can trust in my deductions and your good luck to pull us through?
KyokoI like that attitude. Then here's the deal. The culprit is aiming that laser at you using every reflective surface in the area.
KyokoWe're going to use that to our advantage. The fact that a laser is bouncing around towards you means we can trace it back to its origin point.
KyokoTo do that, you need to get in the line of fire. But you have to time it well or else you'll get a hole burnt right through your skull.
KyokoDo you get what I'm asking here? As soon as that laser's got you, I want you to Connect Jump into it and dive inside.
KyokoIf my thinking is correct, that laser is actually a type of Digital Wave.
KyokoIf it is, the instant that beam of light hits something, it forms a connection with the origin point and establishes a faux network of sorts.
KyokoThat's what should make it possible for you to Connect Jump into it.
KyokoI know it sounds crazy, but you're easily the luckiest person I've ever known. You can do it! Trust yourself and tackle this head on!
KyokoJust concentrate. If anyone can do this, it's you!
KyokoHmm...
KyokoIt really did. Now it's become a serious situation.
KyokoI mean not only did you find a top secret military weapon, you also, well...destroyed it.
KyokoIf we're not careful here, this could turn into an international incident that even threatens our security treaty with that country.
KyokoOh, but don't think any of this is your fault! Even if it were to lead to World War III taking place, you shouldn't feel guilty.
KyokoHeehee, oh, but I really am. When am I not?
KyokoAnyway, lady luck must really take a shine to you.
KyokoTo tell you the truth, there was actually one other thing that flash of light could have been.
KyokoSee, if it hadn't been a normal maser, but instead a phonon maser, you, ah, wouldn't be standing here talking to us right now.
KyokoI detected fluctuations in the Digital Waves, which made me immediately determine that they were functioning as a maser substitute.
KyokoHowever, there was also the possibility that instead of microwaves being substituted that it could have been ultrasonic waves.
KyokoRather than rely on photons, phonon masers, like the name implies, rely on amplified phonons, which makes their properties fundamentally different.
KyokoIf you'd been facing a phonon maser back there, you probably wouldn't have been able to use it like a normal network line and Connect Jump.
KyokoNow do you get how lucky you are?
Hacker's Memory 19 HM 106 lines
KyokoYo, we got another case from the occult club. This one looks personal, though...
KyokoI think those guys might have taken a, uh, liking to us, given that we deal in the strange and unusual in our line of work.
KyokoAnd in doing so, they're inviting yet more strange, unusual things into our lives.
KyokoStarting with themselves, really, heehee...
KyokoHey, nice to see you again, Manaka! What brings you here by yourself?
KyokoCybercrime? Did you go to the police?
KyokoI understand. You made the right choice coming to us. All right, give us the details.
KyokoAll right, let's see what you've got...
KyokoHuh? What's so special about this?
KyokoHmm... how do I put this? Your posts aren't... pulling any punches here.
KyokoPutting my personal opinion aside, I otherwise don't see anything wrong with them. They look normal to me.
KyokoWhat?
KyokoAh, I hear you. Then doesn't that mean your account was probably just hacked?
KyokoSome two-bit hacker probably did it to screw with you, or maybe your computer was infected with--
KyokoHmm...then I take it that this is where that
"supernatural" part you mentioned factors into these posts?
KyokoOkay, I get you. It's stuff that's hard to share with any of the other club members, basically.
KyokoHmm...seeing as you're in an occult club, I'm sure you know about Ouija boards and whatnot, right?
KyokoYour hands move against your will, sending you messages from the spirit world... Something like that could very possibly be happening to you.
KyokoLooking at the post times on your log, those messages went out in the dead of night.
KyokoYou should have long been sound asleep by that point.
KyokoIn the late 1800s, there was an academic by the name of Enryo Inoue who posited these sorts of things can come from having multiple "selves."
KyokoThe politically correct term for that would be
"dissociative identity disorder," actually.
KyokoBut no...that's not it.
KyokoThis isn't because of some mental issue... Here, take a look at this.
KyokoThis was just now posted onto your account. It's a reply to what I wrote on your DigiLine.
KyokoThis conversion unfolded online as you and I were talking, while you weren't touching any terminals.
KyokoThat means you're not the one behind those posts, let alone any mental disorder of yours. The real culprit is out there somewhere.
KyokoWhoever's behind it is just a dumb troll, albeit an arrogant one at that.
KyokoTo quote Enryo Inoue's work again, what we've got is a case of a "fake wonder," or someone trying to make this look more mystical than it really is.
KyokoIn other words, this is plain old hacking.
KyokoYou said that the contents of these posts are based on actual facts about yourself, yes?
KyokoWere you logged into EDEN before you fell asleep?
KyokoGotcha. Then the way I see it, I bet the culprit's been snooping around and hacked into your memory data in EDEN.
KyokoWell, not literally, at least not when you're lone-wolfing it like your hacker here.
KyokoStill, avatars in EDEN are essentially digitized versions of people's "mental data," so to speak, and so memory data hacks theoretically doable.
KyokoThings take a bit of a different turn once the so-called "supernatural" enters the equation.
KyokoDon't sweat it. For now, just log into EDEN tonight like you normally would.
KyokoI'll have my assistant waiting for you in the lobby.
KyokoOh, let's just say we're going "fox hunting." And our decoy will be...
KyokoOur little maiden's deep, dark secrets, heehee...
KyokoLooks like Manaka's still not here yet. Here's hoping this isn't a sign of what's to come...
KyokoHmm? Oh, I had Manaka lay down our decoy. If the culprit's the type of person I suspect they are, they'll definitely go for it.
KyokoThat means it's a pretty safe guess to say that they're going to log into EDEN tonight.
KyokoOnce they're in position, it's just a matter of apprehending them... But that shouldn't be a problem, either.
KyokoThat's because Pete's going to be working with us.
KyokoI had Pete here take a look at those posts the hacker wrote so he could learn their "scent."
KyokoBut of course. That's why I brought you onboard.
KyokoHeehee, you're curious what she wrote, aren't you? It's fine, I'll tell you...
KyokoShe confessed her love to the hacker and also mentioned that she really wanted to meet him.
KyokoIt's a real blatant ploy on our part, but again, this guy thinks his hacking skills are hot stuff.
KyokoHe's going to want to verify Manaka's claims, preferably by checking her memories directly.
KyokoHacking memory data takes some work, though, even to just take a look inside it.
KyokoIt'll require actually directly reaching out and making contact with her avatar.
KyokoThat's the only way he could have done this. He had to have been touching her somehow in order to do the hacks.
KyokoWhat's more, messing around with someone's mental data would take going into the core of EDEN itself.
KyokoThe security there is supposed to be tight as can be. It'd take real effort to break in.
KyokoThe hacker behind Manaka's messages would have therefore had to be touching her for at least several minutes before leaving his handiwork.
KyokoGood. It's time to go hunting! Go investigate the surrounding area and get this person out of his foxhole!
KyokoI knew it. The culprit's a little kid.
KyokoWe're Cyber Sleuth. It comes with the job. But enough of that. We've got questions for you.
KyokoYeah, whatever, just answer my questions already. Who are you and how did you achieve such a complicated--
KyokoI follow you... Baku Reborn Service... Tell me, does the name "Baku" refer to the mythological creature that consumes nightmares?
KyokoAnd by using that baku on yourself, you could... All right, I'm onto what you did now.
KyokoYou handed your avatar's surface level appearance over to your baku and let it consume it.
KyokoThat way, nobody around you would be able to know that you were lurking.
KyokoBut you didn't let it purge that data outright... You controlled it yourself, making it hand it back, like a dog returning prey to a hunter.
KyokoI'm guessing you basically used that same trick to draw out Manaka's mental data, then?
KyokoI think I more or less have a grasp of the current situation now.
Kyoko"I Am That I Am Not"... I think that might be the best way to describe what your partner is to this world, if you catch my drift.
KyokoYou really are smart. I don't just mean you know a lot, either. There's a sharpness to your words that I admire.
KyokoCan I trust you to let me deal with the baku?
KyokoWe'll see... It depends on how things go.
KyokoLet's...call it good at that, shall we?
KyokoYou still have work to do. I'm sending you the URL of the Baku Reborn Service now.
KyokoWe're going to resume our hunt now...only our goal here is to capture, rather than kill our target.
KyokoManaka, I want you to go back. It's too dangerous for you to stick around. My assistant will take care of everything from here.
KyokoOh? So that's what's happened, huh?
KyokoHeh, my little assistant is so sensitive to Digital Waves and special networks... The culprit didn't stand a chance of hiding forever!
KyokoThere it is, our one and only Baku.
KyokoFrom the look of it, that kid's program has merged with a wild Digimon.
KyokoIt's no use trying to reason here. The program's erased whatever traces were left of that Digimon's own sentience.
KyokoDigimon are easily susceptible to influence from man-made programs...
KyokoIt's one of the reasons why some don't consider them to be autonomous beings with their own sense of will.
KyokoThere's no getting around this one... You're just going to have to knock some sense into it.
KyokoOkay, now that that's over, download the data and collect what's left of Baku.
KyokoOnce you're done, get out of there and come back to the office.
KyokoHeinous, huh...? I guess I see where you're coming from.
KyokoEven if he didn't mean any harm by it, what he did certainly broke the law.
KyokoBut that's all in the past now that we've
"exorcised" your account of that little stalker that haunted it. This case is closed now.
KyokoWe'll be holding onto the Baku program in the meantime. If we can tune it up a bit, it could very well come in handy.
Kyoko*sigh*
KyokoDo neither of you really get why that boy picked on her?
KyokoIn a way, there really was no reason at all...
KyokoExcept to say that it was love at first sight. He really liked you, Manaka.
KyokoAt first, he probably just wanted to get to know you more with all his heart. But as we saw, he was less mature than he'd like to admit.
KyokoHe wanted to tease and mess with you so you'd pay attention to him.
KyokoAt his age, it's a pretty standard mentality towards someone you like, really...
KyokoYou definitely helped us back there, so you have my thanks, Pete.
KyokoAnyway, are you still not able to actually leave the confines of Nakano Broadway's intranet?
KyokoHmm... there's still much to learn about what Pete truly is, it seems.
KyokoHuh? Why do we call Pete "Pete"? Well... He's a cat.
KyokoHe was extracted from his own little time capsule, where he was frozen asleep all that time... Besides, open enough doors and you're bound to--
KyokoDo you really need a reason for it?
KyokoUnlike the digital world, the real world is filled to the brim with things that have no real reason for being what they are.
KyokoIt's a simple pleasure in life that we're entitled to have as humans. Don't sweat it too much. Just kick back and enjoy it.
Hacker's Memory 20 HM 53 lines
KyokoHey, a case has come in from Mei at the Inoden Occult Research Club. Drop by the office when you can, all right?
KyokoTell me what's going on. What's wrong?
KyokoGiven that this is business from the Occult Club, I take it we've got another supernatural case on our hands?
KyokoOh? Then why all the big fuss?
KyokoYou must be referring to the "Super Ultra True Puppets." I've heard rumors about them. All right, tell me more.
KyokoHmm...you know, this reminds of another incident. I wonder if this is connected to that.
KyokoThere's a really dicey-looking service out there that's call the "Perfect Girl Project."
KyokoYou can use it to get a living doll made in the image of your "ideal girl" and live the life you've always dreamed of.
KyokoBut, the police have been hearing about how owners of these dolls are going missing. I was just discussing it with Detective Matayoshi.
KyokoThat's the tough part to prove. To make dolls that look so similar to how you two really are, it'd take having pretty specific data on your bodies.
KyokoI imagine getting your hands on something like that isn't exactly easy...
Kyoko"LDC"...? You don't mean "Lustful Dream Chicks," do you? They're certainly not one for subtlety if that's the case.
KyokoHmm... I definitely can't deny the possibility.
KyokoThen our next step is clear. We need to head straight to Akihabara and gather info on this Living Doll Club machine.
KyokoThat'll be your job, Player. As for me, I'll see if I can dig up anything else regarding the Perfect Girl Project.
KyokoHow's your investigation into the LDC machine coming along?
KyokoAh...so you're just about to get started on it.
KyokoThat's good timing, because I'm detecting a faint Digital Noise signature close to where you're standing.
KyokoYou better take a close look at that arcade machine. I bet you'll find some clues about how these Super Ultra True Puppets are being made.
KyokoAs usual, this case is starting to take some weird turns, so be ready for anything in there.
KyokoHmm? You encountered a suspicious man out by the LDC machine?
KyokoSo the perpetrators behind this case are probably that salesman you met and a Digimon, working together...
KyokoIt's unfortunate he got away, but we'll live.
KyokoAs we suspected, those two probably used that LDC unit to gather up girls' data, and then used it to make the Super Ultra True Puppets.
KyokoDon't get too excited. We didn't arrest the guy, but we've got him cornered. I doubt he'll try to pull something like this again anytime soon.
KyokoBut the question still remains as to what's become of the Perfect Girl Project now... Hmm...
KyokoAt the very least, we know each doll's looks are derived from a real person.
KyokoThe dolls' realism is then used to help sway potential candidates to join the project.
KyokoIndeed. Player actually picked up some rather useful information about what's required of anybody who does join the project.
KyokoAnybody who has their dream girl sent to their room can never leave it, ever. I'm sure I don't need to explain why that's probably a bad deal.
KyokoOh? What's this...? My, it's a URL left at the scene of the crime.
KyokoThis might come in handy. Player, I want you to go to that URL and check it out.
KyokoBut...don't worry about going too deep inside.
KyokoWe don't know what you'll find in there. It's very possible we could be dealing with something extremely dark and sinister.
KyokoWe're talking as grim as the stuff you look at for fun in your club... Maybe even more so.
KyokoWhatever's on the other side, it's not going to pretty by any means.
KyokoHuh. All right then...
KyokoSo that URL led you to one of the victims of the Perfect Girl Project.
KyokoRemember, to join the project, you have to stay holed up inside your room for the rest of your life.
KyokoBut in reality, he was lured into EDEN and now he's living with those girls there while he's actually unconscious.
KyokoRight. The so-called "life" he's leading with those girls in cyberspace is just one big lie. The whole thing's just a sad scam.
KyokoAnybody who falls prey for it is unwittingly imprisoning themselves for life inside cyberspace, thinking they've never left the real world at all.
KyokoOhoho, I knew if there was anyone here who'd know about this, it'd be you, Mei. You really know your occult history.
KyokoIf somebody's stuck inside EDEN thinking they're still in the real world and don't log out, then...
KyokoAll that's left inside the locked rooms are living bodies...which could be used for any number of things.
KyokoAccording to police investigations, the victims' bodies are carried off by a third party and taken overseas to foreign countries.
KyokoA lot of the applicants are young and healthy. There are who knows how many people around the globe who'd want such fresh bodies.
KyokoDo any of you have an idea as to how much you can sell organs for on the black market?
KyokoWe don't know for sure that it's anything along those lines. It's just a theory right now.
KyokoIt's hard to know for certain... On the one hand, his body might already be lost forever...
KyokoBut, on the other hand, we might still have a shot at saving him. Might as well see if we can still call out to him.
KyokoBut we should be prepared for the worst...
KyokoThe line between dreams and reality can be murky. It's why I can't dismiss the possibility outright. Who are we to say we don't live in a dream?
Hacker's Memory 21 HM 3 lines
KyokoNew-New and Lekkie combined forces...
KyokoNew-New the Numemon and Lekkie the Elecmon... If you take the first syllable from their species you get Nue...
KyokoNue...the chimera from ancient myths... Yes, one could call what happened there tonight the "Night of the Living Nue," heehee...
Hacker's Memory 22 HM 45 lines
KyokoHey, we've got another case to tackle. Hope you're ready for another day of hard--
KyokoHold on, what's this about that bulletin board? Hmm... So people are saying this place is taking a turn for the even weirder, all right.
KyokoSounds like the residents have a lot of pent-up frustration that they're letting out now.
KyokoWe definitely aren't lacking in people who've got it out for us. Once you're a bad apple in their eyes, you're always one, even if you're innocent.
KyokoLet's see what we can do to clear our good name, what do you say?
KyokoHey there, Mei. You're early today.
KyokoAnd I see it's all the same gang from our Shibuya Hirasaka experiment earlier, as well.
KyokoHeehee, color me surprised to see you all still part of the occult club. Takes guts to stay around after what happened in Shibuya.
KyokoAnyway... I'm sorry to call you all out here when you're so busy as it is.
KyokoHeh, well I appreciate your vigor. Still, that being said...
KyokoTokyo has more than its fair share of occult phenomena going on these days. So why bother coming over to our neck of the woods?
KyokoFunny you should mention those specifically, because I actually solved them all already.
KyokoWhat's this "already" talk?
KyokoThis is my home base and as a detective, if you tell me something weird is up, of course I'm going to look around. That's all long in the past.
KyokoNone of that stuff was why I called you all here. I've got something else in mind.
KyokoHeehee, why the long face? I didn't say this case wouldn't be up your alley.
KyokoThat's the spirit! I fully intend to make use of your club's unique expertise for today's case.
KyokoAs we've already discussed, Tokyo has become a real hotbed for the supernatural and it goes without saying that Nakano is no exception.
KyokoThere are essentially four different odd phenomena going on around here that I want you guys to solve with your passion and young sensibility.
KyokoFirst, I want to figure out what's behind Three- Legged Matthew, who wanders around these parts in search of something...
KyokoThen, I want you to look into the Kata Kata, who roams the floors of Nakano Broadway...
KyokoAfter that, go look into the Reaper Elevator, which ascends from the basement to the fourth floor at 2 AM...
KyokoAnd last, but certainly not least, see what you can find out about Master Tip Tap, a spirit.
KyokoI've given these legends their names based on eyewitness accounts I've heard... Now it's on you guys to solve Nakano's urban legends, all right?
KyokoDon't think you get to take it easy now. You're joining up with them, too.
KyokoIt's nothing too severe right now, but I can tell things are starting to get unstable with Player's body. Control over data is slipping.
KyokoReally, Player seems to have even forgotten what's happened there.
KyokoAs for your reward this time around... How about I give you guys my file with all the so-called
"supernatural" cases I've worked on?
KyokoThe reports and complaints I've been getting from other tenants don't look to be letting up anytime soon, and so they've asked me to solve some.
KyokoBut even with my assistant on board, there are just too many for us to handle by ourselves.
KyokoWhat do you say? Will you go for it?
KyokoSo, it looks like you guys came through and solved all of the mysteries! I couldn't have asked for a better end result than what you found out!
KyokoPerhaps, but as they say, "Truth is stranger than fiction." Get real here. Who could have ever seen any of this coming?
KyokoLet me ask you something. While you were out running around solving mysteries, what were you picturing inside your head?
KyokoDid you see things in pitch dark? Did you hear things in deafening silence?
KyokoPersonally, in my opinion, I'd say such strong human imaginations are key to engaging in supernatural research.
KyokoThose are just my own thoughts on the matter. Don't read too deeply into them.
KyokoHopefully, having reached the conclusion that you guys have, it's given you some things to think about individually.
KyokoNow, as promised, I believe I have my files to hand off as your rewa--
KyokoPerhaps I was out of line, then. If you insist that much, then I won't worry about--
KyokoLooks like it's just the two of us again, Player. Heehee, I didn't expect them to run off with only one of my files!
KyokoEither way, we can now report back to the other tenants that those issues have been taken care of. Hopefully that'll improve our standing a little.
KyokoThose occult club kids are something, though... They're growing up so fast.
KyokoMaybe one of these days they'll start to be friendly rivals of yours. That'd be fun, right?
Hacker's Memory 23 HM 57 lines
KyokoWhat happened?
KyokoWhat...? Pete disappeared in front of you?
KyokoHmm... Just come back here for now. A new case just came in that's cause for concern.
KyokoIt could be related to what you just witnessed.
KyokoThis case comes in from Old Man Mizushima.
KyokoYou might remember him as the one behind those four urban legends you recently investigated with the occult club members.
KyokoIt well and truly is a small world out there, even when it feels bigger than ever in some ways...
KyokoAnyway, he's tasked us with tracking down his cat. Frankly, during times like this, there's something to be said for a down-to-earth gig like this one.
KyokoMizushima said he'd be waiting for you at K-Cafe, although he didn't actually state when...
KyokoIt wouldn't hurt to go on ahead and check things out at the cafe, so go do that.
KyokoOld Man Mizushima is waiting for you at K-Cafe. Now that I think about it, that's where you first met him, too, isn't it?
KyokoSo Old Man Mizushima's not in right now. All right.
KyokoYou originally met him there early in the morning, right? Might as well come back around the same time and see if he shows up.
KyokoAre you at K-Cafe right now?
KyokoI'm picking up readings of really strong Digital Wave vibrations from the fourth floor. It's a really huge current coursing through there.
KyokoMy money's on that old "time capsule" being the cause of them.
Kyoko...What's that? An earthquake?
KyokoNo, I can confirm it's definitely not. There's no movement here on the first floor. You're just sensing the intense Digital Wa--
KyokoAh, did I finally get through to you again?
KyokoThe vibrations have stopped for now, but the Digital Waves are still as intense as ever. There's something big brewing in there.
KyokoAs I suspected earlier, they're coming from that old vacuum tube computer inside the wall.
KyokoThe Digital Waves are just gushing out of there from the old intranet lines that computer is hooked up to.
KyokoSo much so, in fact, that they're forming a cybernetic ley line...a "Digital Line" of sorts.
KyokoIf this thing persists, it's only a matter of time before its effects are felt in the real world.
KyokoPlayer, I need you to go inside that vacuum tube computer and do what you can to stop it.
KyokoI'm counting on you.
KyokoSo it's begun...! Though I have to say this is a bit more than what I bargained for!
KyokoIf this keeps up, the building's going to collapse for sure!
KyokoWhew, looks like the tremors have stopped. Just in the nick of time, too.
KyokoThat's my assistant for you. You've done well. Now I don't have to worry about any broken coffee cups, heehee...
KyokoI see... Nice work. I can only imagine how hard it was, but you really did a good job.
KyokoSo our Pete was actually a cat named Miko, sealed deep inside a wall along with that old vacuum tube computer from the American occupation days...
KyokoAnd somehow, using the building's intranet...or rather the power of its ley line, he merged with the computer and became a Digimon.
KyokoThat old cat's had a hell of a life, wouldn't you agree, Player?
KyokoWe can't say for sure what the actual assimilation process entailed, but at this point, we know better than to doubt it happened.
KyokoIt's amazing just how much and yet how little the digital and real worlds are siphoned off from one another...
KyokoI imagine the reason Pete showed up again after all those years is because of the Digital Wave abnormalities we've seen.
KyokoBut you know... There's still one thing about the whole story that bugs me a little.
KyokoYou mentioned that towards the end, Old Man Mizushima said "Now we can go back to living together again," right?
Kyoko...What do you think he meant by that?
KyokoNot only that, but in the case you solved earlier where he was the one behind the urban legends... How did he keep breaking into the building?
KyokoLet's assume for the sake of argument that he somehow had access to an entrance that let him come and go at the timing he did.
KyokoIf he'd physically been getting into the building so much that way that he was being reported, you'd think something would have gone differently.
KyokoGot any theories you'd like to propose?
KyokoYoshito Mizushima...
KyokoIf we looked into his backstory, we might be able to find our answers pretty easily...
KyokoWhat do you think? Should we dig a little more?
KyokoAh, that's understandable... Then it's probably best we do indeed let sleeping dogs lie.
KyokoAlternatively, we could let the occult club kids know about this. I bet they'd have a real field day going after it.
KyokoI mean, they came face-to-face with a real--
Kyoko...You know what, nah, let's keep it to ourselves.
KyokoNot all mysteries in this world need to be solved.
KyokoNakano Broadway brings many things together...
KyokoThe world of spirits, and the world of the living...
KyokoThe normal and the surreal...
KyokoEven the physical and the digital...
KyokoTruly, nothing is impossible in this crazy hole in the wall we call home.

Cyber Sleuth 3 10 lines
KyokoHey, look at that! It finally reconnected!
KyokoOur link with you went dead a while ago. We figured it must have been the Labyrinth, so we've been trying to get you back ever since.
KyokoNow that we've found a way around it, we should be able to stay in contact despite any other Digital Wave anomalies... Well, with luck.
KyokoSo, anyway, you were in the Labyrinth? Tell me everything!
KyokoTower Records, huh...? Who'd have thought there was a path hidden there.
KyokoHmm... Every analysis I run comes back the same. The Labyrinth under Shibuya has definitely grown.
KyokoEven so, it's nothing compared to the one beneath Shinjuku.
KyokoGiven the situation, there was only one logical Digimon response...
KyokoThe creature had no choice but to drag you into the Labyrinth with it. And I assure you, I have no doubt in my mind that it was a Digimon.
KyokoYou need to find it, and fast. The mon can't have gotten very far.
Cyber Sleuth 11 5 lines
KyokoHm... You wouldn't even recognize this place at night, huh? It's almost creepy.
KyokoI ran a scan of the Tower Records and definitely picked up traces of the Digital Wave.
KyokoThese, uh... "pranks" are Digimon related. I'm almost certain.
KyokoThe strange symbols on the CD cover art may very well be Digimon writing.
KyokoThere's gotta be some clue we're missing. Head in and give the place a full rundown.
Cyber Sleuth 13 7 lines
KyokoSo, after all that, it was a Digimon looking for a little exposure... Taking a shot at fame.
KyokoI kinda feel like he wasn't punished much for the whole breaking-and-entering thing.
KyokoHehehe...
KyokoI like that. You're not just in it to help the store grow, you're trying to expand the world of music.
KyokoAnd I would expect no less.
KyokoHmm... She really believes in that store. I hope they know how lucky they are to have someone like her.
KyokoCan't argue with that level of devotion. Hehehe!

KyokoIs something wrong?
KyokoAre you thinking back to when we first met?
KyokoYou were a great help.
KyokoThe workload was way more than I could handle by myself.
KyokoI didn't have an assistant then like I do now.
KyokoThinking about it, meeting you is probably what made me realize how much help an assistant could be. I'm grateful.
KyokoSpeaking of assistants...
KyokoDid you see what happened afterwards?
KyokoThat's a shame. Maybe you're a stranger to the supernatural.
KyokoI wonder what would have happened if you'd encountered that "digital monster" in Shinjuku before me.
KyokoThe wheels of fate would have changed the future, and the present would be completely different.
KyokoImpossible pasts would have collided, and the world would have vanished?
KyokoIn that case, the existence of a fixed present would be a prerequisite...
KyokoOh, it's nothing. Forget about it.
KyokoLet's not make things complicated.
KyokoBy the way, do you like coffee? Sorry I didn't offer you some earlier.
KyokoTo celebrate our reunion, I think I'll treat you to my special blend.
KyokoHuh?
KyokoWhat's the matter?
KyokoYou need to get back?
KyokoI guess you must be in the middle of something. I wanted to hear what you thought of my coffee, but we can do it another time.
KyokoFate seems to be bringing us together. I'm sure the chance will come soon enough.
KyokoIf you ever need an amazing detective, you can't beat the Kuremi Detective Agency.
KyokoI doubt a high school kid like you can afford to pay much, but there's more to life than money.
KyokoA fascinating case is its own reward.
KyokoAlthough that's not entirely enough... Hehe.

KyokoWow. These are all really high quality. Thank you!
KyokoNow I can continue my research. When I succeed, I'll let you be the first to try it.
KyokoOh, you're back. Wait a moment.
KyokoDoes this mean you've solved all your cases? That's pretty impressive.
KyokoYou deserve something extra special for being such a great help.

KyokoAren't you impatient. How 'bout you meet the neighbors, and learn how cases work while you're at it? Go check the whiteboard.
Kyoko Help 1 76 lines
Kyoko...You're free? What are you talking about? Detectives don't have free time. Fine, here's a task for you. Figure out what you should be doing.
KyokoFirst, take a look at the whiteboard to the right of my desk.
KyokoSeems like you were able to accept a case.
KyokoIt's pretty straightforward. When you want to take on a new case, get one from the whiteboard, just like that.
KyokoI'll add new cases every so often, so make sure to check it from time to time.
KyokoAnyway, go on and start talking to people. I'm counting on you for my case, too.
KyokoTake on some cases while you make your rounds. Think of it as a test. I'll be your client, but don't think that means you can slack off.
KyokoHuh, looks like you've cracked the case. But you shouldn't bother me with it. When you complete a case, note it down on the whiteboard.
KyokoHead for Shinjuku. We may not know everything, but getting out there and taking action is key. Don't think too hard, just keep moving forward.
KyokoAccount raiding's starting to be a real problem. Go ask around EDEN, see what you can find out.
KyokoI don't know much about getting Makoto Yamashina's information, but...look into that as well, would you? Go on, log in to EDEN.
KyokoHmm... I'll leave the rest of the investigation to you, then. I'm looking forward to seeing your sleuthing chops.
Kyoko...What happens if you don't know what to do? Ah... Go talk to Mirei Mikagura, she'll help out.
KyokoWeren't you meeting Nokia in Galacta Park? Friend or not, a case is a case. Don't slack off.
KyokoYou received the transmission, right? Go check out Shinjuku--before the police get there.
KyokoCome to think of it, we're out of beans. Pick up some more, would you? I used them all up crafting a new recipe yesterday.
KyokoOho? You think I'm working you too hard? ...You've got a lot of nerve. Who exactly is giving you room and board again?
KyokoHead to Makoto Yamashina's place. And this time, you make him talk. ...I'm counting on you.
KyokoIf you don't know what to do next, go talk to Mirei Mikagura. She'll use her strange power to help.
KyokoGo find Mirei Mikagura. ...I don't have to tell you where, do I? Heh.
KyokoGo, expose Kamishiro for what it really is. Yuuko's waiting, so head to the Kamishiro HQ.
KyokoGo, expose Kamishiro for what it really is. Make sure to use that program effectively. ...And do take care not to abuse it, hehehe.
KyokoI'll leave that case to your discretion. As my assistant, I expect you to perform well.
KyokoHow's the case coming along? I'm leaving all the details to you. Just report in once you've made some progress.
KyokoHm, so the case is coming along well, then. There's probably nothing to worry about... Even so, don't think you can slack off.
KyokoI'll take a look into this Digimon Medal business. You check out the shop selling them.
KyokoTrack down clues on the missing Sakura. While you're working on that, I'll look into the disturbing video.
KyokoThe URL points to Kowloon Lv. 4. Get over there and check it out.
KyokoHaven't Nokia and Arata called for you? It's fine to take a break from this, so go see what your friends need.
KyokoAlright, let's get started. Head to Kamishiro HQ in EDEN.
KyokoYou heard me, didn't you? Get to EDEN. Something's causing trouble, so be careful.
KyokoHmph... I've got a bad feeling about this. And any good detective knows to trust his gut. Won't hurt to act cautiously.
KyokoA message from Nokia...that is, from Omnimon? Hmm... It must be something important.
KyokoMy investigation's going to take a little longer. The Zaxon forum, eh? Go check it out.
KyokoTo get to the Roppongi Underground Center, head to the Nakano Underpass.
KyokoYou and Nokia should head over. I'll follow up from here as best I can. Now, hurry.
KyokoApologies for taking so long... Now. No time for reunions; go talk to the Royal Knights. ...I'm looking forward to seeing what you've learned.
KyokoI've detected Magnamon in Shibuya. Let's hope you can talk him down.
KyokoI've detected Gankoomon in Ueno. ...Go check it out.
KyokoThe signal in EDEN's coming from Kentaurosmon, ah? It's pretty rough. Don't be careless.
KyokoMirei Mikagura likely knows something about it. Go see what she has to say.
KyokoParallel worlds, eh? Intriguing. This time, everything should go smoothly. Head out to where Kentaurosmon is.
KyokoHow are things in Asakusa? Be careful...and when necessary, be bold.
KyokoGot the plan down? Nokia's already headed out. You get a move on to Odaiba as well.
KyokoSo, to be clear, the five remaining Royal Knights are Examon, Craniamon, Crusadermon, Dynasmon, and Leopardmon.
KyokoOf those, Examon, Dynasmon, Leopardmon, and Crusadermon are virus types, while Craniamon's a vaccine type.
KyokoOther than that... Just in case, you should know their specialties.
KyokoExamon's most prominent characteristic is its size. Imagine that charging at you. It's not pretty.
KyokoCraniamon's heavy armor keeps him well-equipped for both defense and offense. But if you look closely, you should find an opening--exploit it.
KyokoNow, you've already fought Crusadermon. Watch her movements and she'll tip her hand.
KyokoDynasmon is type to rush in headlong--literally. His charge is intimidating, but ignoring it is one way... I'm sure you can work out what to do.
KyokoLeopardmon is the one that'll be troublesome... He utilizes several strategies, so he's hard to counter. Stay calm and face each one.
KyokoThat's all the information I have. ...Why do I know so much? Heh. Knowing things is a detective's job...let's leave it at that.
KyokoI'll leave her to you... Don't let her out of your sight.
KyokoIt's not going to affect Examon for a while. Go be productive. Take on some cases.
Kyoko...You hate having to just stand by and wait? Aren't people always waiting for something? ...Not that I'm any different.
KyokoI sense something good in your "youness." Anyway, prepare yourself. You're up against a Royal Knight...Lord Knightmon.
KyokoNokia Shiramine, give me your Digivice. You can't log in to two EDEN accounts at once, after all.
KyokoI know you're worried that Omnimon can't go along, but the Digimon my assistant raised will be plenty of help. There's no need to be concerned.
KyokoHead to EDEN's upgrade preview area. ...I'm counting on you to find my assistant.
KyokoHmm... It's a good idea to be plenty prepared, but don't forget that the clock is ticking.
KyokoReady to go? Time to see this journey through to the end.
KyokoMirei's sent in another case. She's a regular patron and an important customer. So make sure you complete her cases...heh.
KyokoWhy in the world is it so cold inside Broadway? Is something wrong with the AC? If you're not doing anything, find out what's going on.
KyokoHave you ever been to Shibuya Scramble Crossing? It's definitely something you should see at least once. The terrain is fascinating there.
KyokoI don't log in to EDEN much. I've heard that the view from the entrance is impressive, though. Go see it and tell me what you think.
KyokoCome to think of it, there's a kid from your school in the K-Cafe. Do you know each other?
KyokoSo, the labyrinth entrance is in Shinjuku... If you've the time, stop by and check it out.
KyokoChinese... That's it, that's the flavor my coffee needs. There's a Chinese restaurant here in Nakano. A good assistant would go check it out.
KyokoSeems there's some sketchy poster on the second floor of Broadway. Have you seen it?
KyokoDetective Matayoshi says Arata's been seen in Shinjuku a lot. What's he's up to?
KyokoI know I said not to worry about it, but how do you think Nokia's doing? Is she still looking for allies in Kowloon?
KyokoApparently your friend is moping around the K-Cafe again. I suppose it's a tough age...
KyokoEgo-searching isn't really my thing, but apparently now there's a Nakano bulletin board. Go take a look, if that's what you're into.
Kyoko"No music, no life"... That's the Shibuya Tower Records slogan. You've been there, right?
KyokoI haven't seen Pete in a while. I doubt he's left Nakano Broadway, but something's been troubling him... Go find him.
Quest Complete 1 53 lines
KyokoTracking down lost objects is among the most basic skills any good detective has, so make sure you always stay on top of those cases.
KyokoI see you've been working hard for Mirei. Nice job. You two appear to be developing quite the unique dynamic, if I do say so myself.
KyokoGreat work. What do you say I pour you a cup of coffee for your trouble?
KyokoSo the last of the seven mysteries piqued Wizardmon's curiosity, huh? I didn't peg him for it, but he just might make for a decent detective.
KyokoThanks for your hard work, as always. Now we can only hope that "seedling" you saved blossoms into a big movie star down the line.
KyokoUsing Digimon as part of an idol promotion... Now that's not something you hear every day. I've got to tip my hat to the event planner for that one.
KyokoEver get hit with a sudden wave of nostalgia when you listen to a music box? Heehee, me too... Don't mind me. I'm just thinking out loud...
KyokoThanks for running those errands. Heehee, that's what the client called 'em, not me.
KyokoDigipedia? Yeah, of course I know about it. Actually, how'd you go this long without hearing about it? I'm surprised, considering your age.
KyokoDigipedia is a hugely popular site used around the world. I know it doesn't feel like it, but you just saved a global community of users.
KyokoSo it was medicinal research to save Digimon from disease. Now to just hope for a breakthrough... Hmm? You look deep in thought. What's up?
KyokoSpeaking of experimenting, I came up with a new coffee flavor. It's Italian coffee with tomato and basil paste garnished with ham. Go on, try some!
KyokoIt's thanks to the warmth and generosity of others that people and Digimon alike can keep going... That's how I feel. We've still got lots to do.
KyokoI think the real "Multifaced Criminal" was sort of a fan of the police and PIs. He's probably the first ever hot-cold personality type.
KyokoSo it was about a present for an unrequited love, eh? You know, our case load has gotten a lot more colorful since you got here.
KyokoPeople are a never-ending source of surprises. I never pictured Arata as the type to hang around otaku crowds myself.
KyokoReiko has made a corner just for Etemon's CDs. You should definitely go and check it out when you have the time.
KyokoYou must be ready to burst after all those restaurants. How about some coffee? We can try a new blend--Yuzukosho and sour cream!
KyokoYou kids and your Digimon are all growing so fast, more than you realize. It's really a lovely sight to see unfold right in front of me...
KyokoYou manage to attract quite the diverse group of people. You don't know how rare that is in a detective to have that trait.
KyokoI'm curious to see how this budding romance turns out in the end. I wish him the best of luck out there in courting her...
KyokoThat was definitely a client for the ages.
"Yesterday's enemy is today's client..." The wheel of fate is always turning in detective work.
KyokoI take it the boys' "rite of passage" is over now? The final phase is at hand now. I hope there aren't any lingering regrets once it's over.
KyokoYour drive is really admirable. Keep it up! One way or another, we'll definitely deal with Kamishiro when the time is right.
KyokoNice work. Looks like your cases are going well... Oh yeah, shouldn't Mirei be just about done with her preparations at this point?
KyokoGreat job with that case. I know it definitely skewed more on the weird side of things, but... sometimes it's good to go off the beaten track.
KyokoThat case was definitely a bit of an odd one, wasn't it? I mean, this is Mirei we're talking about, so I guess I'm not surprised, but still.
KyokoMirei just keeps on sending cases to us, doesn't she? It's nice to have some stability in this line of work, though, so stay on top of them.

KyokoWell, looks like things went just like the client hoped. You and Terriermon have both really grown up a lot, I feel like.
KyokoAt long last, you've hit the end of the road with Mirei's cases. We should celebrate! Why don't I show you a top secret coffee brew I've whipped up?
KyokoMirei's always an abrupt woman, I won't deny that. But she's always doing favors for us, so it's worth repaying her kindness whenever we can.
KyokoIf only we could all be as unabashedly encouraging as Rina... Let's be grateful she's on our side. Good work as always, Player.
KyokoThat was some pretty stiff opposition you were up against. Rest well now, you've earned it.
KyokoCopy or not, that was truly a fateful opponent to have... Rest easy, you've worked hard enough for one day.

KyokoCopy or not, that was truly a fateful opponent to have... Rest easy, you've worked hard enough for one day.
KyokoEven if that was a copy, not just anyone could take down Examon at full strength... You've gotten really strong, Player.
KyokoThat was some pretty stiff opposition you were up against. Rest well now, you've earned it.
KyokoThat was no pushover you just fought, but don't forget that the real thing is something else altogether now, heeheehee...
KyokoGreat job today, Player. You've really become an outstanding person, both as a detective and as a Digimon tamer.
KyokoStill, you have a real knack for getting us involved in a lot of stuff, so thanks for always keeping it interesting around here.
KyokoI agree with what Detective Matayoshi said. So it's back to work for you, kiddo! Your next task awaits you.
KyokoGreat to see you pulled through with that case. Keep up the good work going forward!
KyokoPete's an important member of the team, so make sure you two get along, all right?
KyokoThe line between dreams and reality can be murky. It's why I can't dismiss the possibility outright. Who are we to say we don't live in a dream?
KyokoIt's always interesting how mysteries often lead and tie into one another...but I digress. Great work as always. Get ready for another case soon.
KyokoWell, looks like it's just you and me again here. The couches look so empty without Pete around... We better get more clients to keep them warm.
KyokoHeehee, another job well done on that case. It brings me great joy to see you grow into such a nice, strong detective. This calls for coffee!

KyokoWe've got a new case from Mirei... Oh? This doesn't have much in the way of concrete details.
KyokoIn that case, go straight to Mirei and ask her what she wants.
KyokoWe've got another case from Mirei. You should go talk with her directly and ask her what she needs.
