Chapter 03: Demonslaying (HM) 18 HM
Chitose...He started acting strange while you were fighting? What in the world happened to him?
RyujiWho knows... He started losing it, like he was another person. I also saw what looked like a Digimon behind him for a moment...
Ryuji...That might be the cause of his weird behavior.
玩家?
RyujiI mean, we can't say for sure that a digitized consciousness couldn't be influenced by Digimon.
玩家???
Ryuji……待续
ChitoseYeah, to put it simply...
ChitoseEDEN's base system includes some sort of mind digitization process, right?
ChitoseOur minds are scanned when we log in to EDEN and uploaded to the virtual space as mind data.
ChitoseDownloading that data into EDEN avatars carries over our memories from the real world and lets us act within the virtual space...
ChitoseMind data is still data, so it's possible for Digimon programs to affect it...pretty much.
ErikaBut that's impossible. The firewall that protects the mind data should be secure above all else.
ChitoseThat's true... Well, we have to consider the possibility.
ChitoseFor now, we've made sure Mephisto's gotten his just desserts, right? Case complete!
Ryuji...Nope, not yet.
玩家?
RyujiZaxon's request was to "dispose of raided account data." All stolen accounts must be recovered.
RyujiI copied Mephisto-san's device info. Erika, please analyze it.
RyujiI want to know what he did with the other accounts.
ErikaOkay. Wormmon, help me out here.
虫虫兽Okie-dokie!ChitoseOh! You can help her out now?
虫虫兽Yessir! Erika saved me, after all.虫虫兽Lessee, there are logs of Mephisto-san talking with other users...ErikaShow me.
Erika...He talks a lot with corporate users. There's also an account transmission log.
RyujiThat's the one. What kind of business is that?
虫虫兽It's called "Yummy Banking"!玩家……待续
ChitoseHmm... This...definitely seems like some shady business...
Erika...It almost sounds like a practical joke.
虫虫兽It seems Mephisto-san sold accounts to this business. The most important guy is named Tooru Kayaba.玩家...!
RyujiThe accounts were transferred to that corporate server. Let's infiltrate it ourselves and steal the data back.
ChitoseThen the little lady and I should act as backup, I suppose?
玩家(Tooru Kayaba... The next target K told me about.)
玩家(...)
玩家(Maybe I should tell Ryuji and the others about K.)
RyujiPLAYER
RyujiYou all right? It's time to go.
